I am grateful to the viewer who sent me the following extract showing
Wal-Mart taking part in the riddle game. Perhaps someone living close to an outlet could call in and claim a prize and let us know how it went;

"On the Lantern Festival this year, lanterns with riddles scribbled on them were hung all around a Wal-Mart in China. If a customer guessed a riddle, they would win a prize, which mimics the Chinese tradition. The riddles really drew in customers. A lady, while scratching her brain on a riddle, said excitedly, I haven't guessed riddles during the Lantern Festival for years, but it's wonderful that I can do it today in a foreign supermarket."

Wal-Mart has deemed these activities all a part of a special program called "Retailtainment." It means "Retail" plus "Entertainment," Li Chengjie explained. The philosophy is simple: Let customers enjoy themselves by providing supplemental entertainment while shopping. The program has proved very successful in China. "

SCoates (I think I have met his brother Winter) wrote;

"16 is nothing" Very Happy
"18 is time" Very Happy
"19 I'm leaning towards train" - Please be careful, this can be very dangerous, and you are on the wrong train of thought. (It is a form of transport though) :wink:
"As for 20, my best guess is "lip." You have 2/3 of the rewsna" :wink:

21. When young, I am sweet in the sun.
When middle-aged, I make you gay.
When old, I am valued more than ever.

22. If you break me
I do not stop working,
If you touch me
I may be snared,
If you lose me
Nothing will matter.

23. When set loose
I fly away,
Never so cursed
As when I go astray.

24. My life can be measured in hours,
I serve by being devoured.
Thin, I am quick
Fat, I am slow
Wind is my foe.

25. I have it before I become a Unix. I don't have it when I become one.
I have it before I become a monk. I don't use it when I become one.
Everyone has one.
It is usually longer for Americans than for Asians.
What is it?

(Note Unix is how the translation came out, it could be Eunuch. It has nothing to do with computers. In fact I find it misleading. Try; You are not born with one. But you take one with you when you die.)

25=life?

19 I thought of a good answer, but probably not the one you want. Mine. A mountain has trees on its back, and mines are in mountains. They have lots of juicy ore inside, which fills the heavy belly part, and they also have the equivalent of train tracks for mining carts. Tracks are like ribs with nails in them. I propose this as an alternative.

The only thing thta satifies your clue about 20 is pig. Problem is that is not a very good answer, since any animal smells better once it's dead and cooked.

"19 I thought of a good answer, but probably not the one you want."
If it is transport and something to do with the sea, the answer is yes.

"The only thing that satisfies your clue about 20 is pig" Very Happy
Remember these are Chinese riddles.

"25=life?"
Clue; I have it before I become a monk. I don't use it when I become one.

May I say, very well done thus far. Cool Halfway tomorrow, the first target is 12 correct.

What the heck is going on? This forum probably has the best puzzle solvers on the web, not a single problem goes unsolved…until now!
Questions 37-40 were brilliantly simple, yet clever. Is it you are solving them but do not wish to give away the answer at this time with only 10 to go?
On the other hand, of the ones I did not know I only got eight right, and from this lot only one. Crying or Very sad

The penultimate five;
