Stormy:

1) March 5-6, 1962 - 30 inches Cool
2)Feb. 11, 1983 - 28.5 inches Cool
3)March 13-14, 1993 - 24 inches Cool
4)Jan. 7-9, 1996 - 24 inches Cool
5)Feb. 15-16, 2003 - 20 inches Cool

Way to go! Razz

You can determine the five snowfall amounts from clues 1, 4, 5, and 7. Since the average is 28.5 inches, multiply by 5 to get the total amount of snow for the 5 storms. Then subtract the 4 given amounts to get the fifth storm, which is 28.5 inches.

Clue 3 tells you that the 1st and 5th storms must be 1962 and 2003.

Clue #2 tells you that the 2nd and 5th storms must both be March or both be February.

But Clue #4 tells you that the 5th storm must be February, so that tells you that the 2nd storm is February.

Clue #6 then tells you that the 2nd storm was Feb 1983 (since it was bigger than 2 other storms).

Then Clue #3 tells you the highest snowfall was March 1962.

That leaves only two storms which are the 24 inch storms.

Velour?
"Rumor has it.....yes!"

In the United States, first-class postage used to be 37 cents. Before that, it was 34 cents and before that 33 cents. I recently had a supply of all three kinds of stamps and I stuck some of them on a package to total $3.90.

How many of each kind did I use Question

there is no answer....
There are 2 people(mr riddle and Mr Puzzle)
Both there thoughts are opposite.
Its not a riddle...and yet MR puzzle does not jest
Because it is a statement about life:
People have different views and there maybe a answer to life but people will always disagree to the answer until they are dead

but when i look at it from this angle i see that the question would have to be "what is the answer to life?" but then the answer could be Death

So, lets see if you can answer this Tryagain. Do not bother to google it either because you will not find the answer. I was going to go with something different but decided this may be a bit more challenging.

Here is your sequence of numbers:
1,1,4,4,4,501,501,501,501,3,3,3,3,3,_

what number or numbers come next?

Here is your challenge question you asked for.

TTH:

(I will give your puzzle some thought over the w/e)

Yes, I used two 33 cent stamps, three 34 cent stamps, and six 37 cent stamps.
Since twelve 33c stamps would total $3.96, the total number of stamps must be fewer than 12. And since ten 37c stamps would total only $3.70, it follows that there must also have been more than 10 stamps. Thus the total number of stamps had to have been 11.

Let the number of 33c, 34c and 37c stamps be represented by a, b and c, respectively. Then we have

33a + 34b + 37c = 390 and a + b + c = 11

If we multiply the right-hand equation by 33 and subtract it from the first, we obtain

b + 4c = 27

Clearly, since b is positive, c cannot be greater than 6. But if c is 5, then b must be 7, whence b + c = 12, which cannot be. Thus c must be 6, b must be 3 and a must be 2 and this solution is unique. To test it...

2(33) + 3(34) + 6(37) = 66 + 102 + 222 = 390

A most thoughtful view and one that gives a useful insight. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

You will need to know some trivial facts, basic math, be a freekin genius and then follow the directions very carefully!

A How many amendments to the U.S. Constitution make up the Bill of Rights?

B Multiply answer A by the number of items in a baker's dozen.

C Shoplifting is sometimes referred to as taking a "____-finger discount." Divide answer B by this number.

D Suppose Z = 1, Y = 2, X = 3, and so on to B = 25 and A = 26. Add up the letters in COMPUTATION, and find the product of this sum and answer C.

E Every Fall, most of the U.S. changes from day-light savings time back to standard time. If this means turning the clock ahead one hour, subtract 657 from answer D. If this means turning the clock back one hour, add 565 to answer D.

F SET FOR ENVY is an anagram of a number. Divide answer E by this number.

G Double the length of answer F by writing its digit twice, one set after the other (for example, 604 would become 604,604).

H Multiply answer G by the total number of dollars you'd have if you had three sawbucks and four fins.

I Remove the digit from the tens place in answer H and replace it between the first and second digits of the same answer. Your new answer should have the same number of digits that you started with.

J After adding 10 to answer I, divide by the number of letters in the capital city of Turkey.

K If the Redskins won the Super Bowl in 2002, subtract 4,240 from answer J and find 2/89 of the difference; if the Redskins did not win, add 1,370 to answer J and take 1/37 of this sum.

L Drop the last two digits of answer K. This number should equal three times the atomic number of the element nitrogen.

Please list any answers A to L. Question

Barring any further accidents, I should be back Monday!

How many amendments to the U.S. Constitution make up the Bill of Rights? 10

B Multiply answer A by the number of items in a baker's dozen. 10 (answer A) x 13 (baker's dozen) = 130

C Shoplifting is sometimes referred to as taking a "____-finger discount." Divide answer B by this number. 130 (answer B) / 5 (five-finger discount) = 26

D Suppose Z = 1, Y = 2, X = 3, and so on to B = 25 and A = 26. Add up the letters in COMPUTATION, and find the product of this sum and answer C. 150 (24 + 12 + 14 + 11 + 6 + 7 + 26 + 7 + 18 + 12 + 13) x 26 (answer C) = 3,900

E Every Fall, most of the U.S. changes from day-light savings time back to standard time. If this means turning the clock ahead one hour, subtract 657 from answer D. If this means turning the clock back one hour, add 565 to answer D. 3,900 (answer D) + 565 = 4,465

F SET FOR ENVY is an anagram of a number. Divide answer E by this number. 4,465 (answer E) / 47 (anagram) = 95

G Double the length of answer F by writing its digit twice, one set after the other (for example, 604 would become 604,604). 9,595

H Multiply answer G by the total number of dollars you'd have if you had three sawbucks and four fins. 50 (3 $10 bills + 4 $5 bills) x 9,595 = 479,750

I Remove the digit from the tens place in answer H and replace it between the first and second digits of the same answer. Your new answer should have the same number of digits that you started with. 457,970

J After adding 10 to answer I, divide by the number of letters in the capital city of Turkey. 10 + 457,970 (answer I) = 457,980 / 6 (Ankara) = 76,330

K If the Redskins won the Super Bowl in 2002, subtract 4,240 from answer J and find 2/89 of the difference; if the Redskins did not win, add 1,370 to answer J and take 1/37 of this sum. 76,330 (answer J) + 1,370 (false) = 77,700; 77,700 / 37 = 2,100

L Drop the last two digits of answer K. This number should equal three times the atomic number of the element nitrogen. 21 = 7 (atomic number) x 3

1,1,4,4,4,501,501,501,501,3,3,3,3,3,_

what number or numbers come next?

After considerable thought I can say with no confidence at all that the numbers could be the section and subsection of the IRS regulations, a pair of jeans or a date of birth. I however, am satisfied the answer is: 6,6,6,9,1,1

On a recent trip to Pensacola, I stopped at a Drive-In restaurant called TGI's Friday. The Menu advertised 17 flavors of milkshakes which were available in two sizes. For an additional 20 cents, you could combine any two flavors.

How many different milkshakes do they serve Question

Consider a regular shake different from a small shake.

The first thing that popped in my mind when you said Pensacola was Contact.

milkshakes: (17 + 17*16 )*2 = 578
