Water:
But there is a unit of weight called an "ounce" that is the weight of one fluid ounce of water.

Therefore, the water weighs 128 ounces, or 8 pounds. (There are 16 ounces in a pound).'

That's not quite true. A gallon of water weighs 8.33 pounds.

Figure 1
500 pages
All but 100
1,21,31,41,51,61,71,81,91=9
10,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19=9
11=1
Normal = 19
100
100-199=100
4*19+100=176 individual numbers will contain at least one "1"

P*Q=>(P+Q)/2
3*(6*8)+>[3+(6+8)/2]/2=[3+7]/2=5

Bars and bigamy
The two men were once married to the same woman. The daughter was adopted by one of the men and either was once adopted by the other man or was her biological father.

Hey! Divorces and bigamy happens.

3 Switches
Turn all lights off, hang a DO NOT OPERATE tag and let sit for an hour or so whilst the maintenance guy pretends to solve hardware problems. Then turn two of the lights for about 5 minutes turn one of these switches off. Now go in the room. One is on, one is off and hot, one is hot and cold. You got three conditions for separation of switches and light bulbs.

markr--a pints a pound the world around, and 8 pints in a gallon.

The bulk density I normally use for water is about 60 pounds per cubic foot and there are about 7.48 gallons in a cubic foot, fer a density of 8.02 #/gal which is close enough.

On the other hand when in the mks system I use the density from my Nuclear Reactor Engineering Textbook that gives it as 1000kg/m^3 which corresponds to 62.42#/ft^2 or 8.34 #/gal.

So smile, everybody is right.

A pound per pint is great for estimation, but certainly not for commerce.

Since when is marriage a prerequisite for pregnancy?

A bar to the head will do that to you. Was it the same bar that was across Jason's back?

Apparently, the FTs in the last two minutes aren't included in the season stats. Otherwise, there'd be a problem with Jody's numbers.

Since we don't know the circumstances of the FTs in the last two minutes (were the games close or blowouts?), I'd combine the stats to get an overall percentage and go with Rose, who has the highest percentage and nearly the most attempts.

30 FACTORIAL
7 is correct. I counted two for 25, but added them up wrong.

CHARTERED BOAT
I'm assuming that the price for all passengers goes down by a nickel times the number of passengers over 150. I maximized:
N*(10-(N-150)*.05)
Perhaps I interpreted the problem wrong.

Since we know Jason is a rat (this must be prior to the iron bar being across his back), perhaps Jerry and the Kevin are also rats (as far as I know, rats are not immoral).

7 factors of 5 in 30! 1 each in 5,10,15,20 & 30 and 2 in 35.

Boat optimization

C=n[10-(n-150)*5/100]=n/100[1000-n+750]=(1750n-5n^2)/100=[350n-n^2]/20
dC/dn=0=350-2n so n=175

at n=175
then each passenger pays $10-25*0.05=$8.75
C=175*$8.75=$1531.25

Works for me

Nth entry
2+3*n=449
so n=149
since n=0 is the first entry
449 is the 150th entry

The air above planet Xarz is thick with 258,750 soaring hifi-lees. Unfortunately, hifi-lees must pay a yearly fee for using airspace. Infant hifi-lees travel up to 10 miles per day and pay a $1 fee; children travel up to 20 miles per day and pay a $2 fee; teenagers fly 31 to 50 miles per day and pay a $3 fee; adults travel over 50 miles per day and pay a $4 fee.

The hifi-lee fee collector says there are three times as many teenagers as children, one-half as many adults as teenagers, and one-fourth as many infants as children this year. How much money will the collector get from the hifi-lees this year Question

On the planet Pluto, the heater salesman has a very lucrative business. This year, Mr. Zerox has added to his heater line and now carries the jumbo heater for 16 etrogs. (That is the equivalent of $23.40 in US currency). He also has the giant heater for $18.35, the large-sized heater for $13.50, the medium-sized heater for $8.65, and the small heater at $3.77. So far this month Mr. Zerox has sold 72 heaters for a total number of etrogs equal to $974.38.

How many heaters of each size has he sold Question
