In a year flooded with great films, I consider it a blessing to keep stumbling on more great films.
Winter's Bone is as bleak as it's title suggests.

It's an epic tale that follows a 17 year old
Ree Dolly (played by Jennifer Lawrence) as she scrambles to look for her deadbeat drug-dealing father who has fled from the law and broken bail. She has a week to discover his whereabouts or the court will seize her house leaving Ree, her two younger siblings, and her sick mother homeless.
Effectively speaking this is Jennifer Lawrence's introduction to the film going public and she deserves her spot on the Oscar mantel. It will be a tight competition between her and Natalie Portman for this year's Lead Actress award.
Don't shy away from this movie because of the desolate story. The ensemble cast is pitch perfect and many of their cold defensive postures will send a chill down your spine.
At the risk of giving out too many perfect scores, another film earns a 10 out of 10.
