What will be the consequences if the thyroid gland moves down into the superior mediastinum?

Well it's not like that the thyroid gland will move... Bt d question is tht wht if d thyroid gland was in superior mediastinum instead of being in thorax? Why is it's position placed in such a manner?

I really need it's answer if u knw
