I hear ya Setanta, I'm in a similar position, and therefore have no patience for Noah's postulations.

Jeez, guys and gals...this is my first encounter with Noah. I thought he was a newbie, but I can see he has a history.

Oh well...to each his own. If he wants to do things this way, he certainly is entitled.

I still think these kinds of things work better if a proposition or debating contention is posted -- and we work around to various takes on it.

This truly seems more like a lecture than an attempt at a discussion.

When I'm feeling down on myself I watch Jerry Springer and feel much better after. Does that make me bad?

I would agree there Frank, but Noah seems to be hellbent on wanting to teach rather than debate in a civilized manner. Apparently, very few of us understand his 'message'. Rolling Eyes

cav- Teaching is noble. Ramming one's personal conclusions as facts down others' throats is quite another thing!

cav- I am polite too. I just call things as I see them. I am very open minded, and am certainly willing to hear ideas that are counter to mine. I can always learn something.

But when someone comes barrelling in like a steamroller........................................watch out!

It's unfortunate that the 'net doesn't really have the capacity to express sarcasm, as in my use of the word 'teach'. Laughing

willow, it's true. All of us are white, except for the natives we hide on reserves. Most of our bears are white as well. The brown and black ones we don't talk about. We just shoot them on sight.

The education you received in your life was all a matter of teachers ramming other people’s history, rules, theories, experiences and lessons upon you. There is actually very little that you know via observation and your own proving out. Most of what you think you know is actually things that others told you, that you cannot personally verity, but just ACCEPT as truth because of some faith you have in the credibility of others.

The difference here is that I present examples of how what I postulate plays out in human nature to that intervals can verify its general rule of validity, if not its absolute validity. However, my conclusions have a counter productive value to you. It is not the type of knowledge that will earn you money or make you feel superior or better about yourself, so you simply reject it, because it is threatening to you. Believe me…I TOTALLY understand how what I say is a conflict to your interest and no one should expect another to act against their self interest…thus, I have no expectations that you will embrace any truths that I have presented.

Well, Noah, there seems to be lots of agreement here.

Why don't you take this bull by the balls?

Give us a brief paragraph of what you really meant to say in that long screed up above -- a brief taste of what your beef is.

Let us comment -- and create a bit of give and take on the issue you want to discuss.

You might find that some of the things you see to be out of kilter with the world -- or with the United States -- are items you share in common with some of the people here.

Said in other words: You may be preaching to the choir.

You sure ain't gonna find out working the way you are.

Depends on where you go, Willow. Stop off in Woodstock for a bite at the diner, and all you'll see are white faces. Go down to Gerrard Street in Toronto to any one of the many excellent little restaurants, and you'll definitely stand out of the crowd if your skin is "white."

Noah, you do NOT totally understand anything. You ASSUME, and most of us know what that means.

Great food in Canadia. When i'm in East York, about half of the people around me are "white." But in the neighborhoods near the Danforth, that doesn't mean you're alike. Many, perhaps most, of those white folks are speaking Greek or Italian to one another. If you go to other neighborhoods, you'll see far fewer white faces, but still see a good deal of diversity.

I really love all the Delis in Kensington, as well, Cav--and all the little miscellaneous item shops on Spadina nearby, usually run by Chinese or Indians.

wrong; most of us (Canadians) are 'colourblind' (comes with the cosmopolitan culture; with exceptions, of course)

noah; i would suggest that, in my experience, on this forum most participants are not the soiled greed mongers about which you rant, and do not need to be 'made aware' of the miriad injustices accross our planet (if they were, they would not be here!).

perhaps if you were to postulate a question - say; how can we, together go about improving this situation? - you might just draw out a more positive response, and find allies in the battle, rather than skirmishes to be fought.

worth a try..............
