I doubt that I will ever watch it myself. I was wondering how many A2Kers had seen it. From what I have heard, it is really extreme.

@wandeljw,
I slapped this bad boy onto my Netflix qeue. It sounds like a heart attack in a can. Gotta see it and get scared shitless.

@farmerman,
Man sets up phony acting audition in order to find a wife for himself and a mother for his son. That's the premise. What follows? Really bad stuff happens to deserving people.

Here's a good review of the film published in the Village Voice:
http://www.villagevoice.com/2001-08-07/film/death-and-the-maidens/1/

For full disclosure, I will be rewatching the film Tuesday night now that I know it's on Netflix streaming.

ooh Horror movies! I love to watch a good horror flick! I do like a good vampire movie, loved Fright Night and Bram Stokers Dracula, I always feel a bit sorry for Dracula! I do like Lost Boys the first one! Wicker man the original, Poltergeist, the first Halloween was good but died a death with too many of them!

That's a good turn of phrase. I would, for example, apply it to the Alien series. I think it can be applied to a great many "serial" movies.

@djjd62,
You probably know that Quentin Tarrantino considers "Battle Royale" as his favorite film of the last decade: “If there’s any movie that’s been made since I’ve been making movies that I wish I had made, it’s that one."

Has anyone seen the trailer for the movie "Clown"?

I doubt I'll be able to watch this one....

My scariest movie: Hostel. I still have nightmares about that one.

@boomerang,
Hostel was all right, Turistas did a better job of the vacation nightmare, a kidnap for body parts type slasher film

have to check out Clown, Roth (who directed Hostel) is a decent slasher film creator, Cabin Fever was a pretty good flick

@wandeljw,
I am unfmiliar with Battle Royale. CAn you summarize before I stick it on Netflix Qeue.

I am kinda jaded to horror movies where the plot line can be summarized by a few scenarios as follows'

("Two Yound couples" , "A band of explorers", A team of military specialists, ) are (working, vacationing, visiting) an (Appalchian Village, a deep cavern, a n Amazon river tributary, a mountain town in CArpathia) (Awaken, disturb, are accosted by, find evidence of)
(large, thousands of, several living fossils of)

( flesh eating zombies, beautifuk naked vampire women, clowns from outer space,Bloodthirsty Dinosaurs, mutant sharks)

@boomerang,
Hostel and it's highly criticized sequel Hostel II were quite convincingly scary stuff.

@farmerman,
Battle Royale... I read the novel before seeing the film.

The film is a low budget adaptation of the book. In the near future in some unknown Asian dictatorship, during an overpopulation crisis, the government takes a class of high school students and let's them go through a battle royale where the last person alive gets ... (they are never too specific on what the last person gets) to live.

The class is transported to a deserted town and they have to find weapons and strategize if they want to create alliances or go alone, etc.... Really bloody stuff (lots of fake blood and it looks as bad as a low budget bucket filled with blood sounds like it would look).

Decent film if you have nothing better to watch.

Yep Audition was disturbing... but there are a few J-Horrors which will scare you to the end of your wits...

1. Megyaku Naked Blood

2. Tetsuo: The Iron Man

& last but definitely not the least ...

3. Ginī Piggu

Scary disturbing stuff.... Surprised

Add Antropophagus to the list as well...

It is another highly disturbing movie... it will make Hostel look lame.
