OK, follow along with me here. A 'Merican can get a cheap flight to New York, and then pick up a cheap flight to Europe. Or, get a cheap flight to Los Angeles, and pick up a cheap flight to Tokyo or Hong Kong.

Now, certainly, you could get to Hong Kong or Tokyo at a reasonable price. But it can't be cheap to fly from Oz to Europe or North America. So, is this some sort of rite of passage for diggers? Do diggers scrimp and save for years and years to get to Europe? Is this a special aspect of Ozzian culture?

1. There sure must be some scrimpin' and savin' done somewhere.

2.It's a long way to get to where you are (not where Set is - but Albaturkey and vicinity) and many ways to get there. I'd guess dlowan's method probably cost a shitload - and involved hours on hours of discomfort.
