hi! i need an answer to a riddle

riddle: there was once 2 apple trees, one apple tree said to the other "if you gave me one of your apples i would have the same amount as you" then the other apple tree said "if you gave me one of your apples i would have double of you" how many apples did each tree have?

@ammarah,
First tree has 5 apples.
Second tree has 7 apples.

If second tree gives one to the first, both would have 6 apples.

If first tree gives one to the second, first tree would be left with 4 and second tree would have 8.
