Is it good. Well, yes and no. It gets this site "known" but IMO, it also sets up an "A2K vs. Abuzz" scenario which is NOT desired. A2K isn't here to "steal" members from Abuzz and I'm afraid that's how some will see those types of posts.

You may have noticed that the "User" that created that interaction on Abuzz used a name which is "jespah2" spelled backwards... Rolling Eyes

Ohhhhh. I did not see that. I was wondering about the crazy name.
I thinkthis is awful! I came here to get away from the loonies on abuzz!
I was quite appalled to receive this.

Incidentally-who would think we would ever need a place to"get away from abuzz"? Sad, so sad.

I dunno Joan! I can only guess that it's someone that wants to pit A2K against Abuzz for some reason but that's my own personal opinion.

There isn't anything anyone can do to stop it from happening I suppose but if the loonies arrive there are some limitations/controls built into the software here that don't exist on Abuzz.

And in addition to limitations/ controls there's a passel o' moderator types who can nip any problems in the bud. Despair not. Very Happy

Sozobe-that, too, is excellent. It's really the only way for a website to be.
<Sigh> Abuzz used to be that way.........
Well, it's very good that we abuzzers can find a safe haven. I'm very grateful, and glad to know that the loonies won't be able to prosper here.
But still very sad to think of abuzz, deserted and overrun with wretches.
(WHY did the NYT DO that?????)

In the future (when I have time, I am painting my apartment and moving today) I will block abuzz as a referrer to this site.

That would mean the links posted on Abuzz won't work.

I think they do it to stir up ill will against the site (another reason is that an impostor was removed from this site very quickly and this person wishes to get help by inviting other miscreants). Members who I have always gotten along with are angry at me for creating a site that has, against my will, been touted as an Abuzz replacement.

I made this to subtitute my old site and to further my learning in web development. I hate the forced marriage with Abuzz.

So, when I get around to it I will simply make the links from Abuzz blocked and maybe this will die down.

It's too bad that many Abuzzers already dislike this site but I didn't make it for Abuzzers anyway and can't wait for the inevitable divorce from Abuzz.

When people realize that both sites continue to coexist on the internet they might get it through their thick heads that sites shouldn't have their existence depend on another site. And thankfully this is not the case for either Abuzz or Able2Know.

I'm working on more solutions to end the incessant comparisons between Abuzz and Able2Know, having so many abuzzers join was a surprise to me, but once that happened I knew that the misguided site loyalists would pit them against each other.

If Abuzz had a staff I'd plead with them to add the url to this site to their censored word list but until then I'll do some workarounds on this end.

The funny thing is that everyone gets exactly what they don't want with the comparisons.

Able2Know gets a forced marriage.

Abuzz gets spammed by idiots trying to drum up some trouble here.

The idiots don't manage to cause the trouble here and only succeed in making people not want to join this site (I like that, I'm happy to see that today we got 500 visits from google and less than 10 from Abuzz, in the future it will be 0 from Abuzz and I will be more than happy to end this imagined competition).

The loyalists who have come to dislike this site help bring out the worst in Abuzz and turn people like me off from Abuzz (I love Abuzz but it's unique in it's level of paranoia about its existence and it seems any site that doesn't start with abuzz and end in .com is "the end of Abuzz", the end of Abuzz is predicted more than the end of the world and the paranoia about this only hurts Abuzz).

In the end people might just get it though their heads that anyone has a right to put up a site and that there happen to be many sites online. Hopefully some new imaginary reason for the "end of Abuzz" will sping up and this site will be forgotten over there. Abuzz would continue and people would keep "discovering" new reasons to get paranoid and not realize that their paranoias are unjustified.

Right now I am hoping that Abuzz thrives because I can just imagine the hate mail I'd get from hitherto nice people about how it's my fault. What the next "end of Abuzz" will be is anyone's guess but the only thing that could end Abuzz is the collective of Abuzz proprietors and I hope that never happens (there is certainly no reason for it to).

The only thing that the impostors on Abuzz have suceeded in doing is make people mad at me and call my site stupid etc. I've decided not to care, if those people are that petty (to care about what I do with my web development efforts) my fondness was missplaced.

Good work CDK I have worried about posts in Abuzz re A2k.

By the way the Art Chat was really great tonight we had about seven and we all enjoyed. Shepaints is planning the one for next week. It lasted for 2 hours.

If any one has to blame let them blame Abuzz for disrescpting its own users.

I didn't realize that there was that much political madness going on here with your site and abuzz. I had no idea that anyone was mad at you because of your wonderful new site. I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through that. This site is the best forum I've ever run into and I hate the idea of some people trying to put a damper on it.

No problem we are doing it again next week, check the art fourm shepaints has posted a topic for discussion.

CDK you know Abuzz abandoned us and you kindly provided us with a safe place to interact. You should be nothing but proud. This is quite a unique thing that has happened here, a family agandoned by its former home has managed to stay the course with the help of many people dedicated to an idea. I think you are making internet history here. Proof tht real people do use the net and do develop real relationships.

You said that very well, Joanne. Just look at the frequent posters here that have been all but missing from Abuzz the past year.

I agree 100% Joanne & Roger. I was very rarely on abuzz anymore and when I was welcomed here, it was a breath of fresh air. This site is fantastic.

Craven, this is a replacement for Abuzz to me. I looked in there today and there are still several from here who continue to post in Abuzz. I had gotten fed up with it, and when I came here and saw so many of the good guys from Abuzz and got such a nice welcome, I decided to stay! I think the people who are trying to cause trouble for A2K are the immature posters who are just looking for one more way to make trouble. Anyway, my point is that this isn't a replacement for a lot of Abuzzers like it is for me.

You've done a great job with this site. I appreciate the moderators and the work all of you do.

Well, I just noticed this morning that I only get back to Abuzz, when something like this here is mentioned.

I still post on Abuzz. I see no reason to abandon the people I enjoy on that site. I at first had some of the mentality Craven speaks of, but have long since gotten over it. I also post on Beyond Mainstream. There are a number of very decent sorts on that one. Only thing about that one I doubt that it could handle a huge influx of new users.

You know, this whole business makes me want to barf. I stopped going much to Abuzz, because it no longer pleased me, not because of A2K.

I think that we all need to stop being defensive about this.
