Dasein means "being in the world." It's one experience. From the intellect's point of view it's two sides to one coin. But the intellect will find experience of the whole coin inadmissible. What actually keeps a person from experiencing it is emotional anchoring to one side of the coin. That's just an aspect of living an earthly life. There's nothing wrong with it... it's the mechanics of the amazing little play we got going on here.

Thanks for your reply. However "focusing on the wrong thing" is hardly appropriate. I certainly don't focus on "Heideggar the Nazi" when I read his philosophy. I merely wonder why such an independent thinker..indeed an advocator of "authenticity" ... could fall for and actively promote Nazism .

The following point relies on the linear progression of time and the validity of memory...I was given a piece of paper yesterday with an equation I did not understand. Today I can conceptualize the equation, but I can remember a time when it existed and I could not understand it. This implies the existence of conscious beings outside of our selves...and thus our own existence?

Mathematics is a "meta-language". Even this communication in socially acquired "ordinary language" is sufficient to suggest "the existence of others" whence "the existence of self".

Dasein is "there be-ing" or "Be-ing there". "Be-ing there resides along side of the world or "in" the world.

I'm not convinced that entities exist in the way we tend to define them in the vernacular. I don't see anything but labels, empty designators. No selves in the strict sense, just ephemeral, fleeting phenomena reified.
