@hamburgboy,
Yes, but I have two months... I will just have to check it out. I really like your centerpiece idea.

Do you have an idea for a color scheme? If you want to skirt closer than orange (snicker) to traditional bridal wear - ivory blends pretty with the Fall hues you'll be using. Also, a wheat or pale yellow / marigoldish color...

(Having FUN!)

colors to choose from if you like the Fall pallette...

these colors http://apollodorian.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/bookcoverscaleimage.jpg and some greens...

@ossobuco,
No, I wanted something a little fancier (and with this one there's no cleavage for Alex!). But red would be okay.

@Lash,
Couldn't see your pic, Lash. No, no colour scheme. Not getting that into it. I am just doing some table decorations and wearing a dress Smile Simple!

@ossobuco,
Smile Osso - thank you - I like it, but it's just a little casual for this. Although, I may end up wearing it, you never know.

I gotta come and see you guys again. Soon. Talk to Shewolfnm, etc.

@Mame,
You both look great! There's something about your pose that I really love. The hand on the belt is part of it I think.

@sozobe,
Thanks, Soz! We don't really look alike, do we, though?

@Mame,
Sure you do! Your eyes are different -- hers are closer together than yours. But a lot of the lower face, cheekbones etc. are very similar.

Wow- my color pallette was zapped! Mame, you are so gorgeous! You look just like your daughter to me!

Red is FABULOUS! A friend of mine was married recently in orangey red - and her pictures were brilliant! Her guy wore khakis and a white beach shirt with a floral motif down the side of the shirt that featured that reddish color. Lovely!

So, as some of you know, we're getting married in October. We're having both the ceremony and reception/party in a blues bar.

What I need help with is table centrepieces (I was thinking low bowls of fresh flowers - whatever is in season here) and should I do placecards, mix people up or let them sit where they want? I'm a pretty casual person and am not having a photographer or a bouquet, and am not planning on walking down any aisle. I just want everyone to have a good time.

Also, I am not having an updo, and am trying to find a nice dinner/cocktail dress which I can wear again. Alex will be in casual jacket and nice wool pants type of thing.

Anyway, what do you suggest/think?

place names - very simple, cheap as chips...errrr leaves... and a metallic marker to personalise

course, ima hearts and leaves sorta gal ...

re the seating... i'm sorta real uncomfortable with the whole forced-to-get-to-know-the-dinner-party-guests situations - i get you want the families and friends to mix but... ugh, when you have to talk to someone - i'd go with as little forcing as possible so everyone just has the best time <but that's just the way i am (half his and half hers on the tables) and just let everyone mix on the dance floor - they're coming to celebrate your evening wedding "do" and sometimes it's hard to talk over the table with relative strangers with loads of people in the room - i'd go with comfort for everyone for a few hours at a wedding party rather than a get-to-know-the-rest-of-the-family-occasion with-your-mouth-full-of food-and-drinking-a-few-bevvies whilst shouting speech-speech Razz

oh, now, as you're not having a photographer... get a wee dispoable camera for each table and let your guests take the pics - send them off after or take them to the store and get them put on a CD/DVD - then, you don't need albums and whatnot (coz I know you're not a keepsakey sorta gal) but the relly's can all see the pics and ooooh and ahhhhhh (plus, you can post 'em on A2K and we can all oooooooh and ahhhhhhhh too Wink ) - you can just copy the CD then and send them off to the wedding folks if they want to see the pics.

<ahhhh ... beautiful photo Mame of you and kiddo... see, you gotta have pics... really... please please please please please Wink>

Thank you, soz, Omsig, Lash and Izzie - izz - those are wonderful ideas, too, for the tables. There are no linens on the tables Sad - just fairly nice wooden tops, so I don't want to overdress them. Guess a trip to Michael's is in the cards Smile

I FOUND MY DRESS!!! It's a navy blue, snug, ruched, off the shoulders style - LOVE it. Yay, no more looking! I'm so tired of looking.

@Mame,
Yummy dress description! I LOVE navy - it's sort of understated... and Izzie's ideas were awesome!

@Lash,
Izzie's ideas ARE awesome - I'm off to the stores tomorrow to take a look

And the dress really is lovely - it's a shimmery navy and it's knee-length. I bought a gold and swarksky (sp?) crystal necklace (it's in the shape of a V, so it fits the shape of the neckline) and earrings to go with it, and a friend has gold and silver pumps (I'll take a look), so I just have to think about hair and decor.

I'll send pics some time. Thanks for your help and interest, Lash.
