@hingehead,
Me too.

Meantime, I've long enjoyed this thread but don't speak up much.

@hingehead,
"Down In The Valley To Pray"
I remember it from "Oh Brother Where Art Thou".
Pretty silly vid though.

@panzade,
Heh. The vid is because the song was recorded solely as a tourism promo for the Daylesford region of Victoria in Oz. As far as I can tell it's never been released separately. The singer, Paris Wells, does have some recordings out, but nothing quite like that.

@ossobuco,
Hi Osso - overjoyed if you hear anything you like at all - this thread is almost like a diary for me, with little mentions of things that stick out while I randomly play my ginormous music library - I go back occasionally and follow up on the artists mentioned here, by all contribs. I've lost my mind but it's backed up on a computer somewhere.

@hingehead,
Really? I'll comment more often then. I'm a picky bitch, not to mention having poor pitch. I'm not music learned, just a traveller.
I react emotionally to music, on a bed of lettuce of biases.

I may try to start again on the thread, probably not, being lazy, but maybe.
In the mean time, I'll start from now.

Funny how you just miss things - the 2007 album this comes off gets a 5 star from allmusic

@panzade,
Bizarrely last week I finally customised my Windows sounds - something I used to be manic about. I set my windows exit sound as the Laurel and Hardy theme (Cuckoo waltz or whatever it's called)

This could also be posted on the 'Best song on the commute today' thread

Great start to my ride.

I'd never heard of Andrew Bird before, now I find he has a whole canon - hope all of it is as quirky and organically crystalline as this piece. That's why I download shiftloads of mixes and listen randomly, I'm scared I'll miss something like this.

Ludovici Einaudi is a recent discovery for me - kind of like vangelis minus the electronics, never quite falls into bland new age, though he sometimes skirts it

A bit of trip hop - I thought this sort of tasteful downtempo disappeared around 2004. Great video.

Graduate of the Stockholm Con, a harpist playing with deep chill - apparently I have to track down her track 'Eternidad'

I just came across a cover of this song by an obscure Brisbane band called The Goodbye Notes, hunting for it without success so I give you the Billy Bragg original. Still brilliant.....
