Funnel weaver spiders have a wide range in the U.S and build large, flat webs on the ground with a funnel-like retreat. They are extremely common-at least in Texas. Although they are quite shy, and will run back into the retreat when approached, their vision is considered poor. There are a number of guy lines in the web that run back to the retreat; the spider holds on to them to sense insect prey in the web and then runs out to subdue it.

Does anyone wonder why the title is Roger's, and what inspired the thread?

@coluber2001,
Hello,
we prepare an atlas of Czech spiders, the introduction will contain several chapters about spider natural history. Therefore we look for some photos of webs. I found your nice photo of Neriene radiata.
Could we use it in the atlas? Of course, you would be stated as the author of the photo. Thanks in advance for consideration! Please, answer me to [email protected] as I do not visit this portal.
Best wishes from Prague,
Milan Rezac

@farmerman,
I just vaguely remember Roger having a spider paying rent to live in Roger's shower or something like that. The spider mostly being a decent flatmate though I can't remember if the spider let the toilet paper run out and forgetting to replace it or if the spider ate Roger's Ben and Jerry's ice cream without replacing it afterwards.

@tsarstepan,
She did not pay rent. I enjoyed her unassuming companionship.

Typed what kind of music do spiders like? into Google... and yes GOOGLE autofilled "LIKE" So others have actually searched for that sentence before me.

Google the phrase and there are actual online articles discussing that topic. Surprised
