PER NBC NEWS:
OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA POLICE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS ?

No; not entirely, but because of layoffs due to budget cuts,
citizens must stop calling 911 and report crime by email.
Eventually, someone may arrive.

In the meantime,
be glad of the USSC 's decision in McDONALD v. CHICAGO,
because self defense is the only defense u will get.

In the early years of this Republic,
there were NO police at all, anywhere in the USA (nor in England).

Citizens without computers
are free to write letters to the Oakland Police Dept, complaining of crimes.

@OmSigDAVID,
No need to worry, David. There will still be plenty of gang members with guns around to aid in protection if your account with them is current.

Well, the North American Continent is between us, but local gun stores shoud have ambulances
with sirens to deliver emergency guns to victims, at the scene.

There are about 790 sworn in police officers in Oakland, CA plus reserve officers and cadets. Here, even cities/police districts with a larger population to Oakland don't have such a big police force. But we don't have so many guns here, too ...

But nearly all states (police is state's affair) have online police stations ....

@OmSigDAVID,
The press release about the cuts is from July 13 (or 14, I can't remember).

And I agree: the police not driving out at once when a dog barks loud needs that private people get more private guns ...

Make that 80 police officers in total less:
Quote:
On July 13, 2010, at 5:00 PM, 80 Oakland Police Officers were laid off. [...]
Previous Authorized Sworn Staffing - 803
• Current Authorized Sworn Staffing - 723

Hopefully, as a result of the USSC's precedent
in McDONALD v. CHICAGO, the citizens
will be able to successfully attend to their personal defensive needs.
