I answered the phone and told her she sounded like a Louisiana frog what's been jigged and tossed in a burlap bag waiting for dinner (tastes just like chicken) then (just because I'm that kinda guy) I handed the phone to lady Diane. I'm sure she's fine, I will know more in a few hours when they get off the phone.

I called some folks in New Mexico a while ago. Dys answered the phone. He sounds exactly like, well, dys. Knew instantly that he was not Diane. The lady and I did not speak for hours. We coulda, but we didn't. Maybe next time.

@Roberta,
So, how come it took 3 1/2 answers to post? Huh?

@roger,
I got stuff to do. I'm working here. This is the reason we didn't speak for hours. Some people have to make a living (more or less, such as it is, almost).

@roger,
Was there some kinda bet about how many posts there would be before I showed up?

Coulda been a lot more than two, but I'm editing a book on global economics. I gotta come online and google foreign names to make sure they're spelled right. When I'm online, I take a peek in here. When I'm not, I don't.

FYI, some guy named Peer Steinbruck has two dots over the u in his name.

@Roberta,
The two dots mean you mumble when you say it.

Verguenza is a Spanish word meaning embarassed. It has two dots over the u too. Man, would I ever mumble over that one.

@roger,
Does anyone know if there are other words in Spanish that use an umlaut type letter?

Cigüeña, stork or crank; pingüino, penguin; agüero, prediction.

@Ticomaya,
Well, fan me with a blowtorch. Somehow, I find this to be very interesting. Like somehow discovering that a handfull of English words really have a tilda over the n.

@roger,
How could I have studied Spanish all those years and not encountered an umlaut? Lots of tildes, though.

I'm gonna contact a friend of mine (a Spanish scholar) and get to the bottom of this.

In the meantime, back to work.

PS: In case you were wondering how to spell a certain German word, here it is: schadenfreude. At least I think it's German.

Au revoir, mes amis.

It's a noun...therefore has a capital "S".

(Don't you just hate me now?)

@Roberta,
Looks German to me, alright. Since the Spanish language doesn't capitalize languages you think I should be using lower case for spanish?

@dlowan,
Deb, It would take more than a capital letter to get me to hate you. I misread my notes. The s in cap where it's supposed to be.

Roger, Don't confuse me. Too late.
