If you were in the AF for 6 years, and made SSgt, you had to make choices and take action to get there. You also made a choice to leave.
Let's examine that process.
You can't make SSgt through WAPS in that amount of time without studying hard and learning your profession. What's more, you had to have adopted the corporate culture of the USAF or your EPRs would not have supported a promotion in a minimum amount of time.
So, you either had a congruent mind set with that of the rest of the professionals in the USAF or you adopted one that was congruent. If you adopted the USAF mind-set, even if it was only to get rank, you had to identify with the required behavior patterns. Does that mean you worshiped the USAF? No, probably not.
However, you saw the reward you'd receive in terms of being promote-able and made a conscious decision to do what was required to conform to the corporate culture. The organizational leadership recognized this and, using the system already in place, rewarded you by rapid promotion. You should be proud you made that choice, developed a plan of action to achieve your goal, and achieved it.
This decision process was based on a temporary and tangible reward. I say temporary, because after you received it, you left the service, and since it is associated with this life, it is not eternal. I?m sure you see where I?m going with this.
The choice to believe and have faith in Christ Jesus is not exclusive to any one individual or group of individuals. It is open to all, just as the choice to conform to the corporate culture of the USAF, study hard, and make a good score on WAPS is a choice open to all in the USAF. Members of the USAF, or any form of government service, can choose to conform or not. If they choose not to conform they reap the consequence and the consequence is not promotion.
This is the same with choosing to believe the Bible and accept Christ Jesus as your savior or not. The difference is in what, when, and how long you reap what you?ve sown. In the case of Christ Jesus, the consequence is eternal. You can make a different choice than the one you?ve made.
You were dissatisfied with a career in the USAF and left. Did you leave because you didn?t like the USAF, your supervisory chain disappointed you in some way, or because you thought the grass was greener on the other side of the fence?
Are you happy with that decision now that you have your own office with a nice window? Can you get back into the USAF if you decide you don?t like where you are and the grass wasn?t greener?
The problem with the same type of decision about God and what you believe about Him is the consequence of your decision is so final and eternal.
I pray that someone will someday say the right thing to you or that God will lead you back to Him and you will accept your inheritance as a child of God.
I also pray that God will give you the time for this to happen.
