consider the garden of eden as opposed to the modern world, we've a bit far off the design plan

Were you there? How do you know what the garden was like?

Have you read Genesis?

Gn 1:24-28, "Then God said, "Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so. 25 So God made the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and creatures that crawl on the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals, all the earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth."

27 So God created man in His own image;

He created him in the image of God;

He created them male and female.

28 God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it."

Gn 2:15, "The LORD God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it. "
Gn 3:17-19, "And He said to Adam, "Because you listened to your wife's voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'Do not eat from it':
The ground is cursed because of you.
You will eat from it by means of painful labor
all the days of your life.

18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.

19 You will eat bread by the sweat of your brow
until you return to the ground,
since you were taken from it.
For you are dust,
and you will return to dust."

Could it be the current earth is fallen and under God's curse due to our disobedience?

What do they say in the south: "how much time ya got buddy?"

In the Old Testament, Yahweh afflicted people with handicaps.

Exodus 4:11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?

In the New Testament, we see that demons, not Yahweh, are to blame for a wide range of handicaps, mental illnesses and diseases, ranging from muteness to leprosy. Exorcism, prayer and faith healing (not professional medical attention) are the recommended cures.

Matthew 9:6-7

Note on the above passage: The paralyzed man apparently was affected with paralysis because of his sins. Are all victims of paralysis simply suffering the wages of their sins? If someone gets sick or suffers an injury, is it because they somehow deserved it?

Matthew 9:32-33 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

Matthew 10:1-8 .[1]

Matthew 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw

that's just a sampling, the Bible equally misunderstand the cosmos and several other things. Looks less like the word of God and more like a rationalization of acient man to me

What causes Alchoolism?

Bible: Sin and Demons

Truth: It's genetic

What Causes Down Syndrome?

Bible: Sin and Demons

Truth: an extra 21st chromosome

In almost every case listed above, you are assigning a causality that is not implied in the Scripture.

You are comparing miracles to demonstrate God's power to man's ability to address symptoms and eradicate chronic medical conditions or diseases. Apples to Oranges. Nice try, but no cigar lady.

It has nothing to do with being cool, I live in a rural community with a Christian family, and a GF with Mennonite parents. How cool do you think me talking about my beliefs are?

The Christian victims mindset is hilarious, if you aren't given free reign over everything, to do exactly as you please and place everyone else's ideas second, then you're being persecuted.

Meanwhile I couldn't even go have a beer on Thursday night in Abilene without being told I was going to hell and having propaganda shoved in my face when I left, but they're one ones who's personal freedoms are being infringed on.... right....

If you are living in the home of a Christian family and are not a member of that family you must be a tare.

If you are a member of that family, you are rebelling against your parents and are probably not old enough to drink under the law.

If you are old enough to drink, are part of the family, and still live at home with your attitude, you should be evicted by you parents.

You are old enough to stand on your own two feet and put food in your own mouth.

Gn 3:17-19, "And He said to Adam, "Because you listened to your wife's voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'Do not eat from it':

Respect your earthly father or quit mouching off the sweat of his brow and start making your own sweat.

In other words, stop being a spoiled brat toward your earthly father or your heavenly Father.

Well, there's places where a Christian can't go without people like you shoving bible contradictions, etc. and Richard Dawkins down their throat.

They only apear to be contradictions. If you skim, you miss the clear meaning. If you read with a closed mind, you are unable to analyze the phrases and get the clarity of the intended meaning.

my view of what a Christian should be is favorable but far from perfect, seems totally attainable but the majority of them don't seem to find their way to that point.

I really see the fault of this on the Churches and their competitive nature

The truth is, no one is or can be perfect, all fall short. That is why Christ was sacrificed by His Father.

what a wonderful misconception that because I disagree with you I must be a child

28 years old
6 years Active Duty AF wherein I climbed to the rank of SSgt in 3 years 6 months (that's wearing it for anybody in the know reading, for those not in the know AF adverage is 7 years or was then, and for allot of people 3.6 years isn't even numerically possible)
by age 25 I was responsible for 3.6 million in AF assets and was reporting directly over 3 airmen, one of which was two years older then me
college grad (I CLEP'ed or Dantes challanged over 48 credit successfully, 45 of them on the first try)
now I have my own office with a nice window

you wanna talk life experience? I even lived in Europe for 2 years, and Texas for four and wrote a political column for 411politics in 2006

I live alone and I want a dog

sorry if I shattered your misconception of me

I respect my father and honor my god, I just don't picture him the same way you do.

@DesertDave,
Believe it or not, I suspect the GW-hating that's now in vogue has something to do with the falling popularity of religion. In a weird way, it's all inter-related. It's crap, but it's wadded up in the same ball of popular slime-culture. I hate it. People become stupid and dangerous when they fall in with the street mob.

you have a small point, there is a subculture in America that hates Bush because he's a conservative Christian running their country. His religion doesn't bug me, I voted for him twice. Probably wouldn't again, but that's more on his lack of acting against oil company profits then it is with anything in Iraq.

I have a sneaking suspicion that when Bush is out of office gas prices will drop .50

It's just too convenient that an Oil man and a former CEO of Haliburton happen to be in power when Oil companies and Haliburton are making $ hand over fist

do you remember when LBJ committed us to Vietnam after JFK died? We lost ALLOT of Bell Helicopters that had to be replaced. How convenient his wife owned a LARGE minority share of it's holdings...

There I was knee-deep in hand grenade pins. It was harder when I went through.

Actually, congrats on getting through your CLEPs.

We're all children. Now you need a family you can call your own with children who depend on you. It'll give you a better perspective.

If you reach out to Christ Jesus he'll make that office less lonely.

More to the point people are simply tried of being told what to do by people no more civilized or moral than them and often much less so......There is no one right way to do anything there are harmful and relatively harmless ways of doing things effecient and inefficient ways etc etc

During Catholic Mass, I remind myself that what we're doing together at that moment is nearly TWO THOUSAND YEARS OLD. Man......that carries weight in my mind. Two millennia.

Two blinks, and most protestants don't even get half a blink, so I wouldn't be talking.
