In January 2004, just five months after the Columbia accident board's report, President Bush called for the retirement of the space shuttles by 2010 and the creation of the crew exploration vehicle for ferrying astronauts to the international space station and ultimately to the moon and Mars.
glad they are finally getting some new vehicles, the spacecraft we have now are just way to old and have served their purpose, make them into museums or something.

@Brent cv,
This may make me sound stupid, but why would we want to go to the Moon again? Is there that much up there that we can learn from? I've not heard much about it, so I need you guys to share some knowledge.
That's why I asked if it said why we were going back.

Our plan is to set up a base up there... it is going to be a practice for going to mars... basically setting up a colony on the Moon. Reaserch and all that good stuff
