The Philosopher's Reflection.

(I asked this question before somewhere else and got one brief answer, perhaps here will be different.)

Do you think philosophy is critical 'self' reflection?
or
Do you think it is objective reflection?

Are there any other reflections its is could possibly be?

What do you a philosopher or not see when you look in the mirror?
More likely how do you view your own reflection?

How do you view?

Thanks sometime sun

@sometime sun,
Good question !

Looking in the mirror, I see a changing biological system with at least some resemblance to my last memory of the image. However, what the "I" is in this operation, other than a locus for comparison I am not sure. Some, have claimed that "self" is evoked by spasmodically within the praxis of living (Heidegger), or that it operates like a quarrelsome committee with a series of weak temporary chairmen (Ouspensky). And who was that "I" in that crazy dream last night, and where did it go when the body was not dreaming ?.

I think these questions are more fundamental than general epistemological or ontological ones.

Neither, but I *do* believe that critical self reflection is insanely important to anyone engaging in any kind of philosophy. Without it, we don't allow ourselves to change, modify or grow intellectually. The first ideas on any chopping block must be ones' own, else you're just spinning your wheels.

I don't know there's anything objective about it; or if there is, it's only by the by.
