Yes, in Ireland. Name the town and building!

(I almost posted Blarney Castle - we were discussing it on another thread! - But I think c.i. posted it some time back! - or maybe it was me!)

c.i.: Oh you've won. That I know. Just plug in "Boyle Cistercian Abbey" into Google's image search engine and that same image comes up!

Of course if you mean me having my next image...well yeah I'm jumping the gun there! Sorta. Wink I am just trying to be prepared for as little lag time as possible!

I don't think we're going to see margo for a while yet....it's Thursday at 2 p.m. where she is. *sighs*

I need to get the dishes done and then I have to go pick up my Mom from bingo. Oh joy. Did I mention it's -28 C here? Eeeks!

As you've all guessed - c.i. has it right!

I was driving along, from Dublin to the west coast, on a pretty miserable day (well - it is Ireland - it rains, you know!). Suddenly, I came into this little village, and as the road turned, there was this fantastic ruin, just sitting there, sort of looming in the gloom. It as quite large, and parts of it were in reasonable nick - only a small part shows here. Another unexpected find in magic Ireland!

margo: Those finds "just around the bend" are the best, aren't they? I had a similar experience (no camera though) the first time I saw Makapu`u Beach on the island of O`ahu I was rounding the corner from this dry, brown area and suddenly I see the ocean and this incredible blue-green water crashing onto the beach. It was awesome!

The Lion Memorial
The "Dying Lion of Lucerne" is one of the world's most famous monuments. In 1812 it was hewn out of natural rock in memory of the heroic death of the Swiss mercenaries at the Tuileries in 1792. Globetrotter Mark Twain described the Lion of Lucerne as "the saddest and most moving piece of rock in the world".
