This boat takes visitors to Walter Peak, a running farm with sheep, buffalo, and raindeer. They gave us a demonstration on how dogs work with the sheep, and how fast they can shear the sheeps fur. While at Queenstown, we stayed at a hotel for two nights by the lake, and was hosted one night at a private residence by the lake. The couple also hosted the five of us for dinner. The tour company had an optional tour to Arrowtown, but I did it on my own by taking the public transportation. While at Arrowtown, I purchased a large original oil painting which I'll post to show you what I bought. The Chinese artist is from Shanghai. His works have been purchased by banks and international visitors. He was educated in Shanghai, but also taught art at the university in Shanghai at the teacher's college. He also won an international artist award, and was recognized in a international art magazine.

Interesting that a Chinese artist would do a rendition of something from "the old west".

Went home from work, and started to watch the Australian Open tennis on tv. Marat Safin was leading Andy Roddick 2 sets to 1 when I came in here to post my pic! And now, I'm going to bed....but first....

There are some advantages to living at this end of the world! Razz I've been considering another trip to the South Island of New Zealand, which is just magnificent. Airline competition has been heating up, so there are some quite good fares available. So Queenstown has been in my reading lately!

The last time I was there it was on one of my usual mystery tours - "get up in the morning and see where you feel like going!" I ambled into Queenstown on New Years Day, without knowing that a large percentage of the population of NZ also goes there for New Year. I drove for 13 hours, looking for a bed for the night, saw almost nothing of Queenstown - it did look nice as I madly raced from one hotel to the next.

By this time I was getting seriously desperate, and had just about decided to kick a cop, so at least that way I could get a bed for the night - now 9.30pm. The next little town I came to had just one bed, in a crappy hotel - but - gee- it saved a cop from a kick in the shins, and saved me from a night in the cells!

It is Europe - but not north, I don't think - depends on where north starts! It's north of Sicily! Wink
