It's a matter of talking. Geographically, all islands are attached to a continent.

However, when we say continent it means mainland. How englishmen say when talking of Europe but not UK? Continent.

If it is not in Europe, I think it must have been subject to Western tastes.
Some possibilities are:
1) Meso or South America;
2) Asia;
3) Africa.

The second possibility (Asia) can be eliminated.
