Those two failures were Google. Previous attempts by MSN. I learned from the second photo that yes, indeed, the rest of the house has a second story.

Equus, I was able to get the second link working, but it also gave away the identity of the structure. I won't give the answer since many here consider that cheating, even if no one has a clue and are presently wandering around in the arctic in their underwear yelling "Helllllllllooooooooooo?".

Hey! Where's the cannon? Wow! This looks TOTALLY different than I had imagined. Hmmmm....

Excellent! Thank you, cjhsa, I owe you one. In the first photo I intended to post, a decorative cannon set in cement and a flagpole flying a French flag are visible- they must be to the right of this view.

We've established this is not France nor a French territory.
It is not Louisiana.

I don't think analyzing the chimney design will be of any use.

The biggest clue so far is the statement that (not in this picture) there is a flagpole flying a French flag and an ornamental cannon in front of this building.
