The Rising Sun,

What if we all rose with the rising sun,
Gave ten percent and our work would be done.
Ah, what a dream that would be.
To enjoy the rest in leisure you see.
Loving the company of you and me.
If we just pitch in and help
That dream could really come true
As I share who is me with the who that is you.
Now what is it that is holding us back
To say that would cause such a flack,
No one will like to admit,
That they might be the cause of it.
We are all young with far to go
Like a river seeking a place to flow.
So let's not point a finger of dislike
And put it in the damn or the dike.
To stem the flow of hate
Of that river of blood that lies
In all our wake.
Let's us forgive those wrongs
And all put down those sharp stones.
And rise again with that sun anew,
As we walk in that light that is me
And that is you.
As we approach that time of the year
In which we spread such joyful cheer,
You see the sun that warms you so,
Can melt the cold of your heart that makes
You feel like 6 below.
Now the snow in it refreshing rinse,
Brings a dew wen new wed in you
And a common sense, with non-cents ever since
Bringing a collective effervescence.

@William,
Well xris, some hearts have more ice than others and truly do not feel the warmth of it's raise and hide in their darkness below from it's awesome light for they are afraid of what their reflection might be in the light of day. It keeps rising though huh? Maybe it's just tenacious and knows it will take time for some to thaw, huh?

@Caroline,
Wonderful, simply wonderful. I didn't realize there were so many poetical people here on philforum. Though I should have taken the hint when William greeted me in verse.

@William,
One common misunderstanding about poetry is that it is about outer form, artifice, about saying things in a "special way". Not at all, poetry is about speech, about sincerety, about restoring the thread between heart and word and heart. That is the way Goethe speaks in his Faust. That is the way you speak William, and I have heard you.
