My Sweetiepie and I went to the wedding reception of one of her friends from work this weekend. It was a "Newfy-Portugese" wedding. That is to say, the groom is from Newfoundland, and the bride from a Toronto Portugese family.
There were pitchers of water and soda on the table, and champagne was served for toasting the newly-wed couple. There was an open bar. We were brought bread rolls, and then soup was served, followed by salad. Then an entree of grilled halibut and rice with sweet red peppers and nicely spiced. Then an entree of veal with potatoes and steamed vegetables. This was followed by a lovely frozen dessert and coffee. THEN, at midnight, there was the seafood buffet--whole snow crab legs, halved steamed rock lobsters, steamed shrimp, shrimp "puffs," mussels in steamed, spicey vegetables--and another table of desserts.
The whole crowd danced, and sang along to the songs--from babes in arms to grandma and grandpa. It was quite the party.
