Best science fiction series on tv

Thtere have been so many good sf series on tv.There was Star Trek (all of them),Babylon 5,and so many others.

MY vote goes to the whole Star Trek series, because it introduced so many things that are now taken for granted.
We all know what transporters are,and the phrase "beam me up" has become part of modern pop language.
It also broke ground in so many other ways.It had the first ever inter-racial kiss on television.it was the first to use women as strong central characters instead of supporting characters.
IMHO,there will never be another series with the long lasting impact that the Star Trek series had.
What do you think?

Personally, I don't care for space operas or BEMs. For awhile I was very much involved in the X Files, which wore off after a couple of years. The kind of story that I like is the sci-fi/fantasy type like the "Outer Limits". Many of the Twilight Zone stories fell into that category, and they were great!

Hi mysteryman!

I do agree with you about Star Trek, although it is not my favorite show.

For it's original, yet poorly rated, three year run,..it's left a permanent mark on pop culture. The phenomenon continues still, and I do watch "Enterprise".

There are many science fiction shows that I really like.
The first six seasons of X-files were great.
The Twilight Zone, in it's various incarnations is a favorite.
I also liked Millenium and The Prisoner.

And ther will always be a special place in my heart for Irwin Allen schlock like:
Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Time Tunnel. Very Happy

I was always partial to "Outer Limits" ("do not adjust your set ... "), but I doubt any single TV program ever had more impact on both television and movies than did Gene Roddenberry's "Star Trek".

Curious, here ... does anyone else remember "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" from the early 'Fifties? It was pretty lame in retrospect, I suppose, but I thought it was great at the time ... then there were those other Saturday Morning Sci-Fi Staples; Buck Rodgers, Flash Gordon (really just repackaged '30s/'40s movie matinee serials repackaged with commercials), and, of course, Superman.

But again, for overall impact, nothing comes close to Star Trek.

anyone here remember a short lived series called The Star Lost? Premise was more or less identical to Hienlein's story Universe, about a colony ship that has been away so long the inhabitants have forgotten it's a colony ship...

Welcome, dyslexia!

"The Prisoner" is high up on my list and "Dr. Who." Of the "Star Trek,"
"Generations" and "Voyager" are good but can't get warmed up to the new "Enterprise."
