I forgotten!
I hate Darvinism. But I don't deny this doctrine. I know that Darwin's theory - true. This is science fact. But it isn't pleasant to me!
Scientology = :devilish:

This point of view of mine encapsulates my larger idea that philosophy doesn't really ever change history -- it merely reflects it.

I find this interesting because, in my experience, many philosophers like to think that philosophy (perhaps their own?) does indeed change history.

I think many of us here would agree that philosophy does change individual lives. And what is history but the story of a great many individual lives? But then doesn't philosophy change history, if only to some small degree?

I think that analytic philosophy may very well change individuals by giving them examples of thinking more exactly than they do, and even training them to do so. It teaches them to read closely, and to be aware of the many different ways in which language may mislead. And that kind of training will stand them in good stead in other enterprises.

I agree that we do not know. We make up stories to prove feelings we have. Some stiries are nice, some horrible. Then the"holy"man...

I believe in a Good Being. I want Him to take care of US All.

Humanity is working hard to improvve Ourselfs.

But my original point was that the very notion of "deleterious" is vague to me, and so I am unable to say with certainty which philosophies have been the most harmful. This makes me a moral agnostic--a very dangerous thing to be, as this thread clearly demonstrates.

It's dangerous? How is that? What do you expect might happen to you?

I think the most damaging "philosophical" idea is that one does not need evidence for one's beliefs, or, in other words, faith. The short answer for why it is bad is that what people believe affects what they do, and what they do affects others. So it is a matter of importance what other people believe, and if they are careless about it, then they may very well harm you.

For the long answer for why it is a problem, see the book that can be found via:

The Ethics Of Belief

- all religion
It often promotes stupid ideas, prevents evolution due to upholding tradition and respect for the written word they belive in. It will usually punish people unjustly due to supersticious belives.

- Communism
Ruthless goverment, killing millions of innocent people, starving them with their plane economy ..ruining countries.
Equallity is an illusion, and voting about eveything only slows everything down..

....uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm sorry can only makeup 2 things.

Nietzschean Perspectivism--disparages logic, creating incapable atheists.
Moral Relativism--the lazy egoist's solution to "moral" bigotry which succeeds only in breeding intolerance (Mao, Stalin, Hitler) rather than fighting for what is right by justifiying the moral complacency of the masses.
Secular Humanism--a pipe dream which too often degenerates into political correctness instead of securing the natural rights of humanity, consequently promoting censorship instead of the free exchange of ideas (e.g., communism, the ACLU).
Post-Modernism (stuctruralism/post-structuralism)--kills all critical thinking by abandoning the virtues of precision, clarity, and intellectual honesty.

@shmikky,
If you find the philosophy damaging, why are you even pondering about such things. Fail.

@shmikky,
I can't think of 5 that haven't been mentioned, but Objectivism may be dangerous. Ayn Rand is an excellent writer nonetheless.
