It seems 1900 - which I saw long ago and do not remember - will take up in two discs something like eight hours. I must have seen the small cookie version.

If you don't hear from me for a week, please email..

Enjoy, osso! I have a DVD copy here. Should watch it again, soon, too.

Bertolluci's The Conformist is just about my all-time favourite film. I must get a hold of a copy & watch it again.:

Some extracts from The Conformist (dubbed in English). Very weird, for such an Italian film.:

@msolga,
I do like Bertolucci.. but this one may be beyond my comprehension and intolerable re length. On the other hand I liked that ital tv series film recently and time flew (The Best of Youth)

I remember liking the Conformist. I may need to see that to revive myself after this one. And then the piano movie, that I loved, Bertolucci's Besieged.

@ossobuco,
I'm not sure of my temperament now. I couldn't hang in for the Leopard movie, though I've read the book and loved it twice. We'll see. Probably not a good sign that I cut away to a2k in the first few minutes.. and this one is something like eight hours.

@ossobuco,
Yes, I find 1900 heavy going, too, osso. Pretty demanding & depressing at times. You've got to be in the right frame of mind, I think. I thought Donald Sutherland's performance was brilliant. Repulsive, but brilliantly so. Wink

I've never seen Besieged. Actually hadn't even heard of it till you mentioned it.

@msolga,
That one is easy Bertolucci, no doubt shunned in artistic quarters, but I loved it, loved it. Really... I highly recommend it. (If you figure out the ending, let me know).

@msolga,
good, I'm serious on that one. I think I'd be surprised if you don't like it.
Please don't read reviews first.. I liked the movie as a surprise.

@ossobuco,
I always forget that it was Bertolucci who made Last Tango In Paris.

@ossobuco,
Could be, for all I know ...
Fascism doesn't appear to be his favourite thing! Laughing
