Friday, 22nd of June, 9:10 pm, Melbourne ...

Yay, it's the weekend at last, at last!!! Smile

I'm back in my cave on this Friday night ... & in my pajamas already!
Feeling pretty happy.

And the good news is: the shortest day has been & gone. Yesterday.

It's all uphill from here!

Off to bed soon to dream of the coming spring. Smile

IT WAS the shortest day of the year and also the coldest June day in almost two decades.

It was a dark and stormy day:

@msolga,
Monday, 25th June (already! Surprised ), 11:10 am, Melbourne ...

The sun is out! The sky is blue!
After a good soak last night.
Woo hoo! Very Happy

In a short while I'll be heading outside to continue with the major pruning operation I began yesterday ....
You should see what I did yesterday ... so much!
Not at all bad ... for an old person.
Sometimes I amaze myself. Truly. Wink
And no major aches & pains, no poked out eyes, no wounds to report after hours of this hackin-bushin yesterday!
Wonderful to be spending so much outside again & doing what I should have been doing quite a while ago ...

I just noticed ...in my last post I said:

Quote:

It's all uphill from here!

Of course I meant to say it's all down-hill from here.
Please be tolerant, dear reader.
English was not my first language, remember? Wink

.....................................................
sunday evening in eastern ontario - just past 9 pm .
finally getting much needed rain - but outdoor walks somewhat curtailed .
the laundry is out of the dryer , but not yet packed away ( better to do that before hitting the sack ) .

a session on the crosstrainer will have to replace the outdoor walk - but just not the same .

later will have some pumpernickel with " fleischsalat " - sausage salad just doesn't sound right .
will also have a nice fruit-plate with a pear and a mango - before relaxing in front of the TV with a couple of BENEDICTINE - thereafter it'll be " off to bed " .

( so i better put the laundry away NOW - before relaxing with a benedictine Laughing ) .

Ah I see, now your full post has materialized, hamburger!

It's not easy, I can tell you, being a baby boomer whose garden requires constant pruning! Razz

Goodness me, you certainly know how to live!
Yum!

@msolga,
pooped out after a Sunday of wrking on weedy flower beds. eve spent too much beach time and not enough toiling in the garden.
We weeded and weeded until we could once again see the individual flowers. I planted about 40 zinnias and Mrs F planted about 8 lillies . We got all these for free from our Amish neighbor who had an abundance of split flowers and an overabundance of zinnia seedlings that just grew in the warm and rain abundant weather.

Its 9:38 EST (Pa USA)

@farmerman,
Ah, so you've been busily at it (the gardening thing), too, farmer.
Sounds like you & Mrs f did good! Smile

So much nicer for you: being creative in the garden .. while I'm busily engaged in a demolition job! Wink

@farmerman,
My outside "lights" went off very suddenly yesterday, around 5:30 pm ... while I was standing on a ladder, pruning & hacking away ....
Amazing, how quickly it happens!
One minute you can see what you're doing, next minute you can't!

@msolga,
finally put away the laundry .
but also had to sort out the mangoes and pears by degrees of ripeness -
btw. no mangoes grow at all in canada - they all come from brazil and mexico -
do mangoes grow in australia ?
mangoes are probably my favourite fruit - especially the yellow " atafulcoes " .
canadian pears aren't ready before september - so right now they come from brazil , south-africa and the U.S.A .

finally ready for my sandwich ! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

@hamburgboy,
Now If margo reads that, she'll be here in a flash to compare notes with you, hamburger.
She's Australia's acknowledged no 1 mango addict.
Me, I'm more of a banana devotee. Smile

earlier did some shopping for tomatoes , kiwis , pears and mangoes at " food basics " - they'll be part of my evening snack for a few days ( healthier than KFC !!! ) Wink Wink Wink
it's cooled off a bit - didn't need to turn on the a/c in the car - going to head out for my one mile evening walk later ( also healthier than KFC Wink Wink Wink ) .
