Let's hope that 2012 will be a much better year for everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR.

7.00 am Monday 2nd January.

Last day of my holidays. Up ridiculously early because I am going birthday gift shopping with a couple of friends, one of whom insists we set off at nine, which means I have to travel to their place. This is because it is going to be steeeenking hot here today.

A bunch of us are putting in money together so we can get some special things.

It's the birthday person's sixtieth and she's the friend who has had a couple of different breast cancers. Worth celebrating that she's still here.

It's 8:13 PM in St. Pete. Antonio is almost done with his bath then his daddy will read to him for about ten minutes until he falls asleep. He is growing so fast I will have to go clothes shopping for him this week.

Ah, that's good to hear. After the birthday's passed, tell us some of the items (if that is not too impertinent to ask).

Wishing all of you who are just catching up (with those of us who already into day 2) a happy & fulfilling 2o12.
Let's hope it's an improvement on 2011!

Sitting out a stinker of a hot day inside, with all the blinds drawn. (It's dark in here!)
Hottest day yet so far this summer in Melbourne ... a predicted 40 C degrees.

10 pm in eastern ontario .
just listened to to 2011 new year's eve concert by the vienna philharmonic orchestra - as usual " ein ohrenschmaus " - a treat for the ears .
talked to ehbeth who has to use her cellphone - landline is OUT !

still mild here - above freezing - but by tuesday the high will be about
minus 15 C - and stay that way for two days - by the weekend we should be back to milder temps .

wash has to be taken out of the dryer !!!

still need 15 minutes on the crosstrainer before bedtime .

9:15 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Waiting for a little bitty beef roast to be cooked – almost done - so I can make beef dip sandwiches for a late dinner tonight.

Tired after the Christmas season and looking forward to getting back to a normal routine tomorrow.

Oh, msolga, that is hot!! Yikes!

Unseasonably warm here, with a high of 2 C. forecasted for Tues.

It was a hectic day today, because we have our family New Years party at our house. With eight children running around, slamming doors, and screaming, I'm ready to go for a quiet ride in my car.

I think next year, I'm going to join my wine group for New Year's pre-cruise party.

I'm getting up at 2:30AM for my 3:30AM airport shuttle pick up. Should be in Coconut Grove by about 5:30PM. After one evening in Coconut Grove, we transfer to the ship, the Marina, for a 10-day wine cruise to the Western Caribbean.

It's 11:19 PM EST. I have been home for about an hour. I just saw Martin Scorsese's latest film, Hugo.

It's wonderful both in terms of the story and the visual treat. If you like the alternate universe look of films from Babe to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe to Star Wars to Metro to Harry Potter, you will love this film which makes familiar Paris look like a fairy tale in which a clockwork world is hidden. And if you are a fan of Jane Eyre and Francis Hodgson Burnett's recasting of the tale for children, The Secret Garden, you too will love this film.

I can't say enough about it.

It’s 5:49 am in St. Pete, about 56 degrees and it feels good compared to yesterday when it was 40 something.

It's 6:14 AM in New York City. 34°F and a bit windy.

Putting my day together which I meant to do last night.
The chicken soup is simmering on the stove so it will be ready to ladle over some pasta tonight. Maybe a glass of wine.

Desultorily cleaning up after guests. First load in dish washer.....table unextended into its usual length.....I gather from Dutchy it is still hottish outside.....cats stalking each other on my bed, then galloping around....

Going onto 11pm, Sunday night here ....
I should be washing dishes.
I should be tidying up.
I should have done all sorts of things today.....
I should go to bed any minute ... gotta get up in the morning.
Ah well.
