@George,
Okay, then I won't tell you how warm it is in San Diego Twisted Evil

It's Friday 3:15 pm and I am pushing the kid to get ready for her volunteer job. We have to leave in 10 minutes and she hasn't even changed - luckily she wears a uniform, otherwise we'd be sitting here another half hour discussing why she can't dress THAT way outside of the house *sigh* - teenagers!!!

10:57 am, new years eve, Melbourne:

It's going to be a hot one today, followed by a couple of really hot days ....

So a bit of running around the garden this morning, doing what must be done:

Water plants, especially the big potted tomato plants. Check for new fruit. Feed tomatoes.http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

Fill bird bath with fresh water. http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

Fill cat's bowls with fresh water.http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

Awnings in place. (not the pull-down ones for windows, the big pull out ones which create a "roof" over my decking, which surrounds the back & also one side of my house.) http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

Drag the biggest tomatoes plant (in humongous pot) to a more protected sport on the decking ... out of the wind, which is building.http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

Discover a few small borage plants have returned to my garden, after ... how many years of drought? Stop & admire them. Welcome back! Smile http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

Tell Poppy cat (again) to stop harassing me (she's getting impatient!) as I go about this urgent garden stuff. "I'll comb you in a minute!" That doesn't appear to work ... she's getting louder & bossier.

Comb the cat. Who (as always) dribbles profusely to show her appreciation. http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

All done! Everything under control! Smile http://officeimg.vo.msecnd.net/en-us/files/164/392/ZA001117936.gif

Back inside to a very cool house & a cup of tea. Contemplating a quick visit to the shops before it gets too hot, to grab needed goodies before hunkering down in my cool bunker.
Thinking that reading the new book I borrowed from the library yesterday seems a very good idea later on .....

@Lustig Andrei,
Sad

I thought you were gonna comment on my fabulous post, Andrew ... not ask where I got the ticks from! Wink

Answer: I stole them from another site & used [img][/img]to reproduce them here.

Apparently there are other ways, using your own keyboard, but that's way to advanced for me!

@Lustig Andrei,
Why thank you!
I believe this may be the first time in my whole life that anyone has described anything I have done with a computer as "clever"!
I will savour this moment. Razz

@George,
G'day George

Yes - we know ice at this end of the earth - it's the stuff you put in your drinks - or in a cloth to cool your head! Razz

2.35pm, New Years Eve, Kiama, south of Sydney.

Just finished downloading and re-sizing the photos I took while out and about (wearing t-shirt and shorts, George!) yesterday and today. Preparing them to load to the walking stories thread.

Happy New Year, all!

ps...good post, Olga - you busy little bee!

8:00 pm here in southern California

Just picked up the teenager from her volunteer job and on our way home
I heard a loud bang on my car. First I thought I drove over something but at home I saw the mess. Someone egged my car while I was driving by.... Evil or Very Mad
I seem to recall seeing some young guys standing at the street corner,
but I didn't pay too much attention to them. Well it was fresh eggs so I got
it cleaned up in no time and tomorrow I have the car washed and all is good.

I am not venturing out today again, that's for sure.....too many drunks on the road and nutcases on the streets.

12:22 pm, Sunday 1st January, 2012, Melbourne:

I had to do it.
Mow the lawn, I mean.
It was outta control!
And the day was getting hotter (3o C degrees already & rising fast ...)
And I did wait till a respectable time (around 11:30) out of consideration for the new years eve sleepers-in & the hung-over .....
But the mower made a helluva din!
So I probably have enemies all over the neighbourhood now.
.... Or perhaps they'll think it was The Lawn Mower Lady (2 doors down) & not me?
That's EXACTLY the sort of thing she would do.
And I was so quick no one would have seen me! Smile

@msolga,
thanks MsO!

I don't do coffee or colas. Had some choco raspberry bliss tea, but it seems to have relaxed me even though it's not decaf.
