12:52 pm, July 9:

Haven't been on our computer much the last few days, as it is about a gazillion degrees upstairs in our home, where it is located. It's real uncomfortable to be sitting at it.

The promise is for cooler temperatures for the coming days, so I hope it will come off.

Right now, I have two fans blowing on me. Laughing

I just now walked from my car to my office and my eyebrows began to smolder.

It is 110 F right now, which is 43 C. How does that compare to your temps, Reyn? More or less than a gazillion?

@Ticomaya,
I admire you, kiddo. Or maybe the words are, I'm aghast in awe. I'd be dead just standing there - although I remember swimming in Palm Springs when it was 118. Talk about sunburn.
Have fun and don't plotz on us. (I take it your ankle is all better?)

Meantime, it is 2:40 pm, Friday, in warm and sunny Albuquerque, 88 degrees F (31 C). Could be warmer; I prefer it this way, summer at its best for me.

I have a nice batch of fresh cherries, and just got home from the store with the cream to make cherry ice cream or gelato, manana. Plainoldme tells us how on her Ice Cream thread.. (something about doing something to get rid of the cherry skins or maybe make them not like steel bits). Making ice cream is mostly new to me, haven't participated in that since I was four: we'll see.

2:00 pm in paradise

Wow, almost everyone is frying in the country, while our coastal strip is quite
cool and breezy with 66 F. The further inland one drives the hotter it gets,
so I stay right here on the coast. Let the weekend begin - hurraaahh!!!

Well, it's still swollen, hurts when I run, and I favor it when I play still, but I've been given the green light by my ortho doc to play on it. I tape it very heavily, of course. It's getting better each week.

8:52 am, Saturday 10th July, Melbourne Oz:

Good morning everyone.

Good to hear that some of you are finally getting some relief from the extreme heat & that Beth is feeling mellow. Smile

I'm feeling a wee bit seedy this morning as a result of a too-late an A2K episode last night. But give me a minute & I'll be fine.

Heading off to the country today to visit my mother.

7 pm in Virginia. 89 degrees. What a difference 10 degrees makes. It is clouding up. Maybe, just maybe, we will get some rain.
This afternoon on NPR, in an otherwise sad story about the loss of a soldier in Iraq, there was this line from one of the officers: "He could sell ketchup popsicles to a lady wearing white gloves."

@ossobuco,
It's 6:56 in Austin area, and the sun is coming out after another downpour. Hooray, haven't had to water my begging flowers and bushes for two whole days. Guess it's flooding somewhere but don't know yet.

Just nursing my poor big mouth, which has been stretched to it's limit with two teeth drilled, stuffed, and crowned last week. Monday and Tuesday he did two of those root canals, and have two more appointments this month for cleaning and installing crowns over stuffed root canals. Something like that.

The Bank of Texas is in my mouth!

Yup, that's a bit more than it is here, but it feels to me like a bazillion. I can't stand extremes. Right now, to me, it's as bad as snow on the ground.

@dyslexia,
I remember being eight in new york city (temp 100, humidity 100, or even larger numbers - then had no air conditioning, except for in our friend Mildred's apartment, this kind of window thing. This was 1950. Mildred was engaged with the pigeons..

Dys lived in Arabia as a boy, so I can't just say, oh, I did that too.
