Is that the one where Don Knotts turned into a fish?
cross505: I watched a very sad movie last night. Partition
Quote:
In 1947, the same tumultuous year that India and Pakistan were divided into two separate states, a Sikh and former soldier (Jimi Mistry) puts his life on the line to save the life of a beautiful Muslim woman (Kristin Kreuk). In the wake of the heroic rescue, the two strangers find themselves falling in love. But are they destined to stay confined by the strict boundaries of their respective faiths?
'Water' Starring Lisa Ray, father Indian (Bengali) and mother Polish, played a young widow sent to an ashram where she is treated like a servant. The ashram in order to survive has its residents begging on the streets or on the doorway and for widows who are attractive sent out as escorts to respectale high officials like judges, politicians, etc. It was banned in India by the Hindus so it was filmed in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Very sad.
Yes, that was a sad one. You know, when I got the DVD home (I purchased it from Best Buy), it was defective. There was no sound (everything else was normal) and I meant to take it back, but forgot. I watched it anyway, with no sound and it was still sad.
You gotta put Hachiko, A Dog's Story on the list. I didn't simply cry through most of, I sobbed LOL.
I started to tearing up as soon as I saw the title written here. Yeah, sad, but not in a bad way. A full box of tissues is a must.

@cross505,
i never saw Pearl Harbor and I never heard of a Walk to Remember but I do not consider Titanic a sad film. . . other than I hated the time I spent in the theatre watching it.

@tsarstepan,
i thought that Trois Couleurs: Bleu, much like 100 Years of Solitude, was a work that was ultimately triumphant.
Bleu? The woman at the center of the film is much happier knowing that her husband had an affair and that his child will live in his family estate. When she gave away the estate, she freed herself. That's triumph. That is also why the man tells a joke to his legitimate family just as his car is about to crash into a tree and change their lives.

I thought "American Beauty" with Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening was very sad. Also "Ice Storm" with Kevin Kline, Joan Allen and Sigourney Weaver.

I watched "Sinners", about the Magdeline Laundries not long ago and it is terribly, horribly, devestatingly sad. (You've been warned.)
If I'd known how Prison Break was going to end, I'd have never watched the last two episodes. Matter of fact, I'd have probably stopped watching at the end of Season 2. Dumb writers LOL.

@Irishk,
Yep. Do I look familar?
Especially during the parts that Don Knotts looked longing at the ocean and at the fish. Very sad indeed.
It's in my Netflix 'Watch Instantly' queue, but with the title of The Incredible Mr. Limpet. From the Netflix blurb, I wouldn't have guessed it was sad, but happy/sad I can handle. I'll watch it this weekend.
