@MontereyJack,
David says:

Thank u for your concern about my sleeping patterns.
My life is FREE, fully liberated from the clock.
I eat when I 'm hungry and I sleep when I dam well please.
My life is crammed full of freedom and Individualism.
Any hour is fungible, unless I intend to travel or I have a local social engagement.

I go to a lot of conventions, for the fun of it.
Other than those activities, I am free, free, FREE.

It is obviously a word you heard but never learned the definition of.
Since u claim to be an English teacher in a college
we might have expected u to know English. OK, welcome to David's remedial English class, Plain.

I 'll help u out:

"Legal Dictionary

Main Entry: sov·er·eign·ty
Variant: also sov·ran·ty /'sä-vr&n-tE, 's&-, -v&-r&n-/
Function: noun
Inflected Form: plural -ties
1 a : supreme power esp. over a body politic b : freedom from external control : AUTONOMY
[A "World Court" woud be "external control", Plain. David]
2 : one that is sovereign; especially : an autonomous state
Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law, © 1996 Merriam-Webster, Inc. " [All emfasis has been added by David.]

" Cultural Dictionary
sovereignty [(sov-ruhn-tee, sov-uhr-uhn-tee)]

A nation or state's supreme power within its borders.
The American Heritage® New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition

Now, it occurs to me that Prof. Plain 's understanding
of the word "supreme" might possibly be as weak
and lacking as her understanding of the word: "sovereignty";
therefore, I will pro-actively help her with that one too:

" su·preme
   "adjective
1.highest in rank or authority; paramount; sovereign; chief.
2.of the highest quality, degree, character, importance, etc.: supreme courage.
3.greatest, utmost, or extreme: supreme disgust.
4.last or final; ultimate. "
[All emfasis has been added by David.]

The point is
that by taking an appeal from the US Supreme Court
to the "World Court" the Mayor of Chicago implies
that America is NOT sovereign, is not
the highest authority, because (according to the Mayor)
the "World Court" is of even higher authority
and according to his implication, America must obay the "World Court" which of course it DOES NOT.

Is that enuf "reading on sovereignty"
Plain, or do u need some more ??

@OmSigDAVID,
Oh, sluggo, I know what sovereignty means. You have no idea how well I know the meaning of the word. I think ill of folks who insist on publishing multiple definitions of one thing and using colored fonts, but I told you that many years ago and you told me that you like them.

Now, you tell me how in the world you ever came to apply the word sovereignty to the subject of this thread: Mayor Daley.

Your ability to fake ignorance, is admirable, Prof. Nancy; most convincing.

U commanded me to do some more reading about sovereignty and u challenged my definition of the word.
I complied; now u complain again.

OK, Nancy, I will. I thought (thawt) it was obvious, but here goes:

The Mayor seeks to violate and to overthrow American independence
by subjecting the nation to external control from an alien power.

Have I been clear?

@OmSigDAVID,
You are a 100% fraud. I really have no desire to share my life story with you but let's just leave it at this: I have written extensively on sovereignty and sovereignty is actually the right to rule. This business about absolute right or supreme right is bunk . . . but sovereignty has a great deal more to do with claims to territory.

You seem not to know where federal law ends and where state law begins. In this sense, the law itself is territory and the Constitution defines the limits between the territories of the various states and that of the federal government.

I think that in this case, you are simply angry at me because I called your bluff on the question what-is-a-resale-shop.

And, now, you decide to apply the upbraiding I gave you to me. How fifth grade but you have never demonstrated maturity in this or in any of your semi-literate blatherings here. Your stupid pose about spelling. Your ignorance about political science. Your gun garbage.

Now, sluggo, what I asked is for you to plumb the depths . .. and I do mean depths . . . of your imagination and tell us as we wait, barely able to breathe, how this action of Mayor DALEY has anything whatsoever to do with sovereignty.

Plain, maybe if I had the slightest trace of respect for your mind,
then I 'd care what YOU WROTE, or any other semi-idiot wrote.
U do not learn by WRITING; u learn by READING.
If the Dean of your school has any competence,
u will be standing in line at the unemployment office.

plainoldme wrote:

I will stand by what those quoted dictionaries said.
Your drivelling is hopelessly stupid; u are just a waste of time.

If I were arguing with anyone whom I even slightly respected,
I 'd challenge him to quote the Constitution in proof of what u claim,
but I know that u cannot (because the Constitution does not say that)
and u will not try; u will only prattle on mindlessly.
Arguing with u is like trying to argue with a dog.

plainoldme wrote:

I only asked an innocent QUESTION of Ed, who used those words.
I never heard those words before; HOW can that be a "bluff"???
I have not read whatever u wrote about that yet.

plainoldme wrote:

I have not seen any "upbraiding"; perhaps I will find it later.

I have already answered that hereinbefore. Maybe u were too stupid to understand. I thought it was clear.
OK, here it is again, for the really slow learners:
if he appeals from the highest American Court
to an external entity to establish control over America
then he thereby implies that America is NOT sovereign because
it must obay a higher power. He woud subordinate America
to an external entity; (presumably, this alien judgment woud be enforced by alien troops,
as he imagines it; maybe UN troops to enforce gun control in America).

Don ' t ask me that question again; enuf is enuf.

Nancy, I 'm tempted to put u on Ignore, not because of your ideology, but because of your mental incapacity.
Over the years n decades, representing the libertarian, Individualist, anti-liberal point of vu,
I 've argued with nazis and with liberals and with commies many times; it was fun.
I do not begrudge anyone his own opinion,
but YOU are so consumately stupid that it seems hopeless; an exercise in futility.
Your head is LOGIC PROOF. Reasoning with u is like making gold out of water; it can 't happen.

I can't wait to vote Mayor Daley out on his ASS this November.

I would feel this way regardless of this current issue.

And Dave, I wouldn't be concerned with POM. She's recently reduced her level of argument to the following:

Bush probably used the wiretaps to masturbate.

She's lost any respectability she may have had. I personally dislike most of what Bush did; but her most current posting style has destroyed any credibility she may have had, in my opinion.

If u look at Article 3 Section 3 of the Constitution, u 'll see that
that he is flirting with treason, if the alien judgment
were to be enforced by invasive alien troops, presumably from the UN.
Of course, we have a veto on the Security Council.

I had not seen that post; indicative of a mental breakdown. Its sad.

I take no pleasure in saying
that I cannot take her seriously any more.
I like a good argument, but she is not able to do it.
