It's true that some kids today are disrespectful, but that is not to say the way you specifically were raised is the correct way.

That is like me saying that everyone should be raised the way I was because I try to show respect for everyone (not just adults)

What do you think are the best ways of raising a child to be respectful (especially) to their elders?

I think much of it can be seen in the way the elders treat the kid. If there is mutual respect shown the child, they tend to learn more readily how to show respect as well.

IN A GREAT WAY NEVER BEEN IN TROUBLE OR TO JAIL..MY PARENTS WERE LOVING BUT YET FIRM AND DIDNT TOLERATE ME ACTING OUT OR BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO ANYONE AND THEY DISCIPLINED US WHETHER WE LIKED IT OR NOT. WE HAD TO BE CHILDREN AND TO DO WHAT WE WERE TOLD AT ALL TIMES.. I THANK MY PARENTS BCUZ IT HELPED ME BE THE LOVING PERSON I AM TODAY!!

Some children today are raised as you stated you were - many not - maybe it is that those that are running wild are just that much more or that much worse that it sticks out - you don't hear the quiet respectful children, you hear the loud rude ones - why? Because they are louder - you tend not to hear the others.
