Where did my emails go?

I was out of state and used a hotel lobby wi-fi to get emails for a few days.

I got home and all of them are gone. Not in my trash folder.

Any ideas?

Someone suggested I had a virus.

This happened to me yesterday, on Gmail. They were under All Mail on the side tabs, but... All Mail was not visible till I hit the four more... Hope that makes sense.
