@shewolfnm,
sadly, if you don't get the queen with boiling water....and chances are you won't, you can kill the whole nest and she'll be up and running in a week.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
BBB, that's scary. I'm allergic enough to sugar ants, with being bitten by those guys.

@panzade,
pour boiling water on it.

dig a hole

pour some more

dig again

pour some more.

it only takes about 110 -120 degrees to kill them. You can get the entire area around that nest that degree easily.

Hot water kills them instantly. I will go after them for days Smile

@shewolfnm,
Amdro fire ant bait

http://baitisbetter.com/site/index.php/fire_ant_bait

Spread it over your entire yard, and they're gone.

@DrewDad,
I checked it out and though Amdro is not good in ground water...the toxicity in grass disappears after 3 days. Small pets are safe if the don't ingest a large amount.

Butrflynet hired Orkin to treat and maintain our land and home for every critter lurking about, especially the mean little ants. We had not have our home treated before for fear of endangering Dolly and Madison doggies. Orkin vows to not endanger pets. The woman treater was impressed with Butrflynet's preparation by her preparing a list of every critter we are aware of on our property and with dead and live samples of ants and other bugs, etc. She said nobody had done that for her and it made her job much easier.
