Tell him or her how you feel about the job being done, whether good or bad.

Thay vote on making laws. When one of their bills passes, thay send it to the US Senate.
If BOTH houses of Congress (the House of Representatives and the Senate) pass the same bill,
using the exact same words, then that bill is sent to the president. If he signs it, then it becomes a law.
He can veto it, if he wants to.
That 's like saying: "forget it."

@emshae,
First, use google to find out who is the congressman or congresswoman in your area (district) and then google the congressperson's website and read that. That should give you a clue what the congressperson's points of view and voting decisions have been.

You might look at wikipedia.com to find out in general what a congressperson does, or that may be in your textbook.

As to what you want to say in the letter, listen to your own opinion that you form by reading a bit about issues that are coming up for a vote.

@emshae,
I would hope you don't just obey OmsigDavid. Figure out your own opinion. Taxes exist for various reasons that you may end up agreeing with.

emshae, if you are 15, that's the equivalent of tenth grade. If you are in 10th grade and homeschooled as you say you are, and have no idea what congresspeople do, then realistically your parents are doing a really crappy job of teaching you.

As you were told above, Congress writes the laws, debates them,and passes them (or doesn't pass them), and the President then signs (approves) them (or doesn't).

Tell your parents that they need to explain the Constitution to you NOW.

Have you heard any of the news for the last six months about the Health Care Reform proposals? That's what's beec consuming the interest of Congress and the American people. Do you have an opinion on that? Does your family have health insurance? Have they had medical problems or has everything gone smoothly with them? Do you think that changes needed to be made in the system as it stands? Do you think the new law makes needed changes or not? Did you know that under the new law, you can now be covered by your parents' health insurance until you're 26, and that children cannot be denied coverage for preexisting conditions. Do you approve of those clauses or not. The debate is going to continue. How did your congressperson vote on the bill? Find out and let him or her know.

If they are getting high, why would I lower their taxes.

Yes; there is no jurisdiction for any anti-drug law.
