They may be thirteen and have no access to an oak forest. I don't either. Maybe there is one around them but they don't know about it, or if they do, don't have transportation.

Littlek is right in that given the teacher assigned acorns, maybe they are available in the area. Or the teacher is a dumpkopf. Or maybe the poster knows almost nothing of the nature in his or her area, for various reasons not his or her fault.
