People who are caught Drinking While Intoxicated who also killed someone because of this act, are getting let off with a slap on the wrist! 1 yr. and most likely they get out at 8-9 mos.! I think thats not enough!

@chezymeeez,
Assuming you mean DRIVING while intoxicated, it seems to me that we have the technology to require the driver of a vehicle to blow into a detection device in order for a vehicle to be activated. The litigation issue involves the fact that alcohol (and other drugs) impair the judgement of being fit to drive, and hence is a mitigating circumstance in the assessment of "guilt".

@chezymeeez,
Where are you living??????

Florida if you get into an accident when driving under the influence that resulted in a death even if the accident is not your fault you going away for 5 plus years.

You could be sitting at a stop sign and someone kill themselves by rear ending your car and you would still go away for 5 plus years.

Little known fact: in most states, DWI does not stand for Driving While Intoxicated. It stands for Driving while Incapacitated. Thus, you don't have to be slobbering drunk to be arrested; just too 'incapacitated' to operate a motor vehicle. (I discovered this about 16 years ago when I got bagged on that charge up in New Hampshire. Haven't had a drink now in almost 15 years. It's easier to not drink than to not drive.)

(thankfully there is a much higher incidence of Drinking While Intoxicated than Driving While Intoxicated...)
