@Ceili,
Halloween was my second choice, but I'm no longer a kid, my kids have grown, and I don't yet have grandchildren.

I do long to dress up in a costume every Halloween though. My wife's something of an introvert and won't let me have a costume party or won't join me in attending one.

I've promised myself that if I ever win hundreds of millions in a lottery, I will host a costume party and invite at least 200 people. I'll also send $500 with every invitation to be used on a first class costume.

Still not sure what I'll wear but I'm thinking Louis the 14th, Edwardian England, or sci-fi tribal.

@Finn dAbuzz,
St Patrick's Day

In New Orleans

Parading and celebrating in the Irish Channel.

I don't like Halloween parties, although we are invited to one every year. Mr B loves it -- he's the creative one here - so we go. Definitely not my third or eighth favorite.

@aidan,
Thanksgiving is a good one, but not enough fun associated with it.

Plus it's a war every year to get my wife to include turnips, and creamed onions on the menu for her Latino/Italian family.

They just don't taste as good if they are not made with joy.

@Finn dAbuzz,
We had both of those things at our Thanksgiving dinners when I was growing up. Not sure how much joy was involved, but they were there every year.

It's the most fun for me because it's the only holiday I will definitely be at home for come hell or high water (since home is far away).
Halloween used to be fun when I was a kid and then when my kids were little - and I loved Easter - candy, new shoes, a pretty dress and bonnet and easter egg hunts.
I don't see very many little girls in easter bonnets anymore. I'm so happy I grew up when I did.

I would love to come to your party Finn. I used to have a tickle trunk - for those of you south of the border, this idea was stolen from Mr. Dressup - A Canuck kids show from back in the day.
None the less, I gave away all my costume when I moved to Vancouver and now that I'm moving back home, I'm seriously thinking of bugging all the recipients of my collection to give 'em back. Alas, I won't, but I'm thinking of starting a new trunk.

Cremed onions huh... I wonder if that's an Irish thing. I've never known anyone else to have them on a special occasion.
