Rotax engine? Could that mean people are attmepting to put rotary engines in them?

No, just a very hot 2-stroke engine. Rotax/Bombardier is the company which makes most hot snowmobile and kart racing engines.

Besides that, Rotax mainly produces four-cylinder, four-stroke, gear reduction-drive engines for certified aircrafts and motorcycle engines - all BMW's, and most of Aprilla cycles have Rotax engines, famous is the HeliconĀ® V2-Motor in Buel motorcycles.l
