@Rockhead,
I'm totaly into Marley green... but I do believe were not on the same page, at the moment. lol
As for the name, I like Hot Rod in the name. It tell's 'em what you do. High Plains - Kansas - oui? Sounds like a really great name.

@Ceili,
we are on the low plains here, technically. the high plains are even more desolate and barren than this.

but they got the mountains to look at. better group of goats, too...

@Rockhead,
Ah. Smile

You know, I was just now looking for a soothing piece of music to accompany your herbal nightcap, Rocky.
I love this.
Hope you do, too.
It makes me almost comatose! Razz

@msolga,
I played that this morning on JPB's thread...

http://able2know.org/topic/111253-16#post-4770720

how strange is that...?

if I watch ruggers, I won't be abed for several more hours, msO. but I appreciate the sentiment. I took a pill, and meditated, I'm level enough even to go out and work some more, but don't want to get that close to an episode.

moderation in all things anymore is my motto.

it's not that hard with no really fun options anyways...

I've not opened a video game in over a year now. too much other stuff to use my time on that will provide income or shelter.

I'm all rambly now. damn pills...

if there is any interest, I may ask a friend to help me post some photos of the ragtop bug. my client said he doesn't care what I do with the photos.

it is starting to look kinda cool. every time I get one all down to bare metal. I think it would be cool to clear coat it and drive it all naked. but clear doesn't work that way...

now I gotta start welding up holes. finally got my auto darkening helmet with the eye correction lens in it back. loaning stuff out sucks...

You did? Really? Surprised

I've gotta agree that this is a pretty strange coincidence indeed!

Like, wow! Smile

Yes.
Moderation.
(I keep telling myself that ... & well ... it's a very sensible approach, indeed!
If I can get there (become more moderate in my approach to life, I mean), then so can you! Smile Wink )

I hope Erik didn't put you to sleep & you can still watch the game, Rocky.

@msolga,
crohns enforces my rules, msO.

she's a cruel mistress...

2 is my normal bedtime. 5 is not such a stretch. about the time I get down when I work a gig.

this is much less stressful than tearing down a stage. but it pays less, of course.

are you gonna watch the game?

go all blacks...

Well I don't know that I could describe life as fun exactly lately, Ceili.
But the challenges have certainly kept me very busy & on my toes!
And you?
How is life treating you, Ceili?
Haven't seen much of you for a while, either.

Life in the high prairies.
I have absolutely no idea of what that would be like.
Another world ... a very intriguing one to an outsider ...

@Rockhead,
I went to see U2 a couple of months ago. We had seats behind the stage. We could see the band. Last minute tickets.
I had seen them the year before, Black Eyed Peas opened, in Vangroovy. I've been to a ton of concerts, folkfests and the like.
This time, because of the stage, and our looooong lighted nights, I watched the crowd and crew more than the act. Man, you guys are efficient. Must be a fun gig.

I feel really bad about saying this, but no, I won't be.
Because there's a lack of interest on my part, that's all ....
But yes, go all blacks.
That would be a good win! Smile

@Ceili,
I enjoy it a lot...

it's kinda amazing from opening the trucks to sound check usually takes about 6 hours.

@msolga,
I've been busy and not so much... I'm looking for a job, again..
The yard is coming along. Dug drenches today for the planters, my fence is almost done, Boler's striped, garage is clean. Tomorrow, hopefully, fingers crossed, we'll get the old girl off her frame, build the planters, and have the bobcat over to dig the rest of my dream landscaping ideas.
Other than that...
Trust me, as different as my neck of the woods are, Aussies love my area. There are a ton of them here. They miss home, but for some odd reason, they seem to adapt to the cold better than me... Our summers are lovely, it's been dry here, not Australia kinda dry, but very little rain, normal. However... according to the farmers almanac and other weather seerers, we are about to be deluged with a worse winter than last. I shudder. Last winter, I'd not seen that amount of snow since I was a wee bairn.
Did you know that there are only 3 full time weather channels in the world? 2 of them are in Canada... Need I say more?
Aside from that, things are good.

@Rockhead,
I was listening to radiocumetary the other day on CBC, I think the show was called Ideas. Anywho... It was on roadbumps, sleeping policemen in advertising and or life.
Brown M'n'M's were a case in point. Van Halen had a long rider, because they had several trucks of equipment. They played smaller venues and made big cash but often the stage wasn't up to par. So they hid the M&M thing deep in the contract to insure it was read and adhered to. The band actually walked out of a concert in Denver because they saw the wrong candy. As David Lee Roth said, he knew that if they didn't get insignificant details right, they would most likely ignore the major safety issues too.

I'm a wee bit jealous by the by...

It sounds like you have achieved quite a lot!

And I hope finding work in your neck of the woods is not too difficult.

No, that wouldn't surprise me at all, Ceili.
I don't think I've ever come across an Australian who has had a bad word to say about their time in Canada, any region, full-stop.
I feel a similar affection toward your country, though of course, without having had the opportunity to actually visit. I'd love to, though.
It's just that I have absolutely no idea about what life would be like, living where you do on a high prairie. Never experienced anything like that.

And now, I'd better cut this short & go. I have a visitor.
Cheers to you, Ceili.
Night night, Rocky

@Ceili,
not exactly sure how canada works, but you might be surprised how easy it is to get started as a hand, if you are physically fit (I didn't mention my crohns), and have a small bit of mechanical common sense.

IATSE is the union to contact. my guess is that for some big events they will be looking for extra help.

@ehBeth,
mostly not so good...

neighbor came over and wanted me to start his truck. it needs a distributor. we pulled it over here to be fixed tomorrow, weather permitting. no room inside the shop, and the vert has no paint on it. it stays put...

I can fix it in the doorway easier than walking back and forth to his place. he's my closest neighbor, but he can't hear me grinding at 3 am...(good thing smoky's damn near deef)

cold and gray with rain threatening.

woodstove inside the cabin with what wood I had left around.

needa feel like cutting some logs.

not today...
