mr vw made me smile today.

I stopped by to drop him a cheap grinder I had purchased for him. ($10 on sale)

this way he won't be borrowing my expensive one. it's gonna be working overtime soon.

he has his brother and sister in town to fix up and sell the parents house.

when he introduced me, it was as his best friend...

not something we had really ever discussed prior to.

felt nice...

@Rockhead,
thank you.

smoky is in tearing up my pork loin. he was hungry...

I'll go gather it up in a bit, and bring it out here to snack on. kinda early for me yet...

tomorrow I gotta go buy a coupla lights. I can't see my tools. big supply day, I think Ima buy a small blaster for the soda. my big one eats it so fast I can count the dollars flowing out the nozzle.

this may yet work out...

I got a welder to borrow until I decide which one to buy.

Are ya gonna buy a new or used welder, Rocky? I've got one but I haven't had any time ta practice with it. I'm pretty handy at most things but I've never done any welding to speak of. Used an acetylene torch to cut stuff, that's 'bout it.

@JTT,
I have been searching for an appropriate used one, but am about to buy a new one.

good used mid-range mig welders with a gas hook-up are scarce right now.

@Rockhead,
Is it easier or harder to use a mig welder over a stick welder? With the addition of gas, does a mig welder use less electrical power?

Do welder wear out like power tools or do they pretty much go forever?

As you can see I don't know much about welding. What a new rig like that worth?

@JTT,
mig is easier to learn than stick.

I do a lot of delicate work that you could not use a stick welder for. lots of crusty sheet metal.

I don't know that one uses more power than the other, but it depends on what setting you are playing on...

$3oo - $2500.

I have an old lincoln arc welder that I don't remember the last time I turned it on...

@Rockhead,
Hey Rock, I got to spend some time with a guy that has a 16 inch telescope, in a shed with a retractable roof, last night. It was awesome fun, got to look at a bunch of cool stuff, live and in person.

@wayne,
verra cool...

I spent the afternoon buying paint.

ouch.

nothing but surface prep stuff, no color yet, and I am $500 in.

and I broke down and bought a new HVLP gun to shoot it with...

gonna have to continue doing the restoration stuff, I guess. so far there seems to be a market for it here now.

and I got a baby blaster for my soda.

If I can get back to level tonight, I got lots to play with...

so far, so good.

back hurts, but I took a pill for it, so...

got a cabinet hung up for all my expensive paint products and stuff.

and hung all my wrenches over the tool bench.

I gotta run over to ace and get another light fixture, I can't see my tools...

and then Ima make smoky some dinner, he's kinda fuzzy again.

He did come out and sit in the shop for a while whilst I worked. kept saying he wished he could help me.

he doesn't realize just how much he already is...

came in for a drink and to check on a2k.

always on the carpet. what's that about.

the joint is mostly cement board, and easily wiped up, but nooooo...

(at least it ain't on the bed. that makes me freak out and yell. but he is not fond of loud dad noises)

gonna go finish taking the last fender off'n the bug, and set it back on 4 wheels to go outside tomorrow.

blasting outside only. let it blow around and go away, instead of everywhere inside the shop...

and I got me a cool new face shield.

I feel like darth vader when I sandblast now. but with a t-shirt turban...

No kidding! Last Saturday morning I was stuck on the couch and heard the distinctive sounds of feline retching. I didn't know where the guilty party was but the evidence showed up on the entryway rug - the same rug that we'd cleaned the week before.

I'm glad your shop is coming to life with lights and sound and things to keep you busy!

4 a.m? That's about the time I was getting up this morning.

it's always something.

I got too much air...

Ima hafta go buy a pressure regulator to knock it down some.

this is getting circular. hoping to have my set-up kosher soon.

at least my headache is staying in the background.

Ima see if smoky wants to run over to atwood with me. he was talking about wanting to go pay his barber. I guess he's been floating haircuts.

we'll stop and settle up for him as we go. his new money cycle starts soon, and I can just work to support me for a bit.

lovely day on the prairie for running aboot, though...
