@Rockhead,
Nut Thins are fab (I like them with hummus that has pine nuts on top).

well...

(bob would say that's deep)

had to blow off my morning plans. I don't do mornings very well, and this one was worse.

but it was for fun, and we don't schedule fun very often, so what the hell...

Smoky musta went to Wally's. he's not home either. I need to use the laundry machines, but I don't go in when he's gone. just one of those respect things...

he won't be gone forever, he don't stay standing up real well. kinda surprised he didn't ask me to go. but he's been kinda weird about too much help lately. it's an old guy thing...

think Ima fix a leak in my hose that stretches forever, and water my menagerie before I head over to work on my motor swap. kinda hoping my electrician would turn up. prolly not, he was here yesterday, and consistency is not his strong suit...

we have fresh spawn in the pond. guppy heaven it is...

and my cannas are growing like crazy. too cool...

think Ima go de-flea bubba. (my nature baby)

I still got them eating me, and Stinky is clean now. I think bubba is giving me some of hers at night when we converse by the tiki torchlight next to the pond.

smoky's back. and it's hot and muggy.

storms gonna be popping up again, prolly.

he turned the a/c on in his place, so I think we're gonna make some pizzas.

started my laundry, but he was on the phone with some loud guy in Jersey getting a very extra special promotional offer on some miracle medication he saw on TV.

I hadda step out for a while...

my pizza rocked. smoky had a premade crust that was marginal.

next time we both do gluten-free crust.

it is actually verra tasty with good texture. (Namaste Foods mix)

now with spectacular lightning in the Eastern skies, Ima go play with a Nissan motor for a while.

too hot to think aboot sleeping yet.

I put new blades on the mowing tractor tonight, so tomorrow I gotta mow.

damn rain...

The shop has full power and lights.

and the 220 is up and running as well.

2 temporary power lines run to the cabin (instead of extension cords) and both air conditioners are finally humming.

Stinky has a pleased look on his catty face.

now I can look at what I was supposed to start on in May...

@wayne,

I gotta make a turtle ladder...

seems almost every time I water the garden, I hafta help a little guy get back outta the water.

they struggle so much I can't watch any longer. (but they really don't want any help)

you gotta be careful, they pee on you...

@Rockhead,
Turtles and frogs... pick them up - make sure you have the back end held away from you. Wink Thankfully the old addage that if a frog pees on you, you get warts is untrue. I don't have a single wart. And I have been peed on plenty - by frogs and turtles that is...I have three boys (actually been peed on by them too) - it's bound to happen Very Happy

Uncle...

tomorrow I gotta go to the House Depot and drop a wad of cash.

But I'm gonna go insane if I can't get cool...

10,000 btu. 15 amps. with a 5 year in cabin warranty.

nice.

but $250 hurts like hell...

RIP Harold Norman.

http://www.kansas.com/2011/07/15/1934553/western-actor-harold-norman-dies.html

"Mr. Norman, whose stage name was Hal Jon Norman, died earlier this month in an Andover nursing home at age 99. A private funeral service will be today in Wichita.

He was born Aug. 27, 1911, in Wichita.

When he was 19, he lost his right leg in a train accident. He recovered and learned how to walk with a prosthesis and with no detectable limp."

update:

conditions brutal. no end in sight.

ten days of smooth sailing with no change. 106 for the high every day, 79 for a low. no clouds allowed.

and mr vw was totalled out on the highway by an inattentive child driving their parents acura.

I gotta go bring his truck back from the dead for less than a grand.

we can do it.

at night.

not doing but watering anymore in the afternoons. with a sprinkler.

period.

(mebbe work on smoky's shower, but it's air conditioned in there)

@Rockhead,
Ah, rock. We finally got a shower today, with 50% predicted for Monday. I was working on the gate post for the swimming pool today in the bad humidity. I was as wet as if I had jumped in the pool.

@edgarblythe,
smoky says (kinda grumpily) that all I do is run water...

but everything here is dying that I don't assist with a drink.

I even had to start watering trees.

if I don't, the leaves are dropping, and my shady cabin grove becomes less shady.

and more hot.

I have a small green oasis in a desert of prairie at the moment...

@Rockhead,
Sounds much like my situation, except I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel now.

Reyn, you're funny. You sent it our way.

A random thought of my own. I think that cinnamon swirl bread is gluten free.

@Letty,
dunno miss letty.

gotta start with no wheat. not a lot of bread does that...

been sealing air leaks in the cabin, trying to keep more of the cool air in, and the incredibly hot air out.

so far it's better'n yesterday.

and nothing's chasing me right this moment.

mebbe I'll figger out how to upload some pictures of the garden.

my cannas are starting to bloom.

fire engine red...
