@JPB,
sad, but true.

you take high water marks where you can get them...

I'm still poor as hell, but I am working.

three different sources, but I am almost a full time stagehand.

if the casino does what they say, next year looks better than ok.

we'll see.

stinky really likes it here...

stinky learned his lesson Monday.

I got up early, and he stayed in bed.

he gets fed in the mornings now. (usually around noon)

and I didn't get home until dark that day, leaving late.

today he made sure I knew he was in a breakfast mood...

big day.

gotta scoot...

I'm home switching vehicles between shifts.

very very tired.

but ok...

instead of coming right home and trying a nap, I went over and helped out at the salvage.

not sure if I should attempt a nap now.

it would be short, or I would sleep through all the alarms and lose my down rigger position.

not gonna happen.

I can gut out one more shift.

and sleep most of tomorrow while it is freezing again...

not sure how many of the beach boys are real, but my guess is one.

gonna go in a little early and find out.

very minimal staging.

but we made up for it by having the man lift break.

it will not go down past half way...

so we maneuvered it behind the curtain for now.

but it can't leave the building...

@ehBeth,
hunkered down in the cold.

kinda poor right now...

gonna be 3 degrees tonight.

not much to do until wednesday.

gonna make a ham feast and go take it over to gram's.

got a date with diablo until then.

betwixt today and the 2 christmas days, I do best to give my mind something else to occupy it...

the ham is in the oven.

it is over freezing, and the snow is starting to melt.

I think a long hot soaky bath is in order.

got an hour before I gotta put more glaze on...

almost over.

@Rockhead,
an intensely hot shower was the very very best part of getting our power back

the house is still warming up

everytime I think it's warm I find another little area that hasn't quite caught up - I love my heating pad

@ehBeth,
How long were you without power, ehBeth?

@realjohnboy,
Just under three days for us.

As Set put it, they were three dog nights but we only have two dogs.

There are still a couple of hundred thousand people in Toronto without power (it went out on Saturday night). People are with friends, family, in hotels, at warming shelters. There's apparently still a problem getting seniors out of their homes and apartments.

Yikes!

I'll be doubly appreciative of my shower in the morning.

Happy Christmas, Rocky

@margo,
I'm happy it's almost over, margo.

my sister and some dude stopped by gram's to visit her as we were finishing dinner.

after some awkward silences, gram went out in the living room to chat, and I cleaned up the kitchen.

family bliss...

but the ham was excellent.

firkin stinky...

I hear this struggle behind me, and think he has tackled a burglar, or we have kangaroo rats moved in for the winter...

no.

he has this new thing about sitting on the back of my new (to us) leather recliner rocker.

but he's ten years old, and hasn't been doing his workouts like he promises to do every new years morning.

and then he gives me a look like I better not raz him for it...

I spoke with my transmission builder today. wished him a merry merry and gave him a heads up.

gonna build the 700R4 in the red truck and sell it retail.

I'll set up a bench over to bob's (where there is a lift), and pound it out after the new year...

need to find a focus.

(starting a week on thursday is difficult)

getting my shoes on to go unbury the truck. still a big drift down the windscreen...

and to go check on mama feral.

I think I will stay home today, and plan on running errands tomorrow. maybe everything will be melted off and mostly dry so I can wash a black vehicle.

both are in need after the snow and salt.

ham and eggs in a bit. homemade hashbrowns to boot. par boilt a buncha taters. 10 pounds was cheaper than 5...

@Rockhead,
Ham and eggs, is better than bacon and eggs. Hope it warms up for you, Merry Christmas Rock...

(Side note) No power for nearly 3 days ehBeth... Ahhh...

@FOUND SOUL,
christmas for me is about minimizing the damage from the family to gram.

I just cannot fathom what makes some folks tick...

and kudos to my sis for at least making an effort.

her parents didn't even manage a phone call...

anyways, enough about holidays.

I want to rant about ham.

I have been dodging turkeys pumped full of crap for years, but this year there was not a ham to be found that was just pig.

23% unmentionable garbage infused.

I didn't have the finances to fight it.

and it tasted good.

but damn...

@Rockhead,
Apparently, over this way up side down, people were lined up for an hour to get their food and an abundance of stores sold out of Turkey, in fact we had the stuffffff too, didn't do that last year or the year before.. And twas nice !
