@mismi,
do they make you show your id?

it's easier to get moonshine down south than it is cold medicine.

damn crackheads...

called gram to tell her to nibble on some lunch.

I'm not getting up at 6 to make it at noon...

and I gave her the number for the batphone.

told her to write me in as joe the plumber, so anybody snooping through her rolodex won't call me.

the joys of our dysfunctional clan...

this is the closest I can find to the one in my 1912 German cookbook

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/authentic-german-potato-salad/

Original recipe makes 4 servings

3 cups diced peeled potatoes
4 slices bacon
1 small onion, diced
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Directions

Place the potatoes into a pot, and fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, and cook for about 10 minutes, or until easily pierced with a fork. Drain, and set aside to cool.

Place the bacon in a large deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry until browned and crisp, turning as needed. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Add onion to the bacon grease, and cook over medium heat until browned.

Add the vinegar, water, sugar, salt and pepper to the pan. Bring to a boil, then add the potatoes and parsley. Crumble in half of the bacon. Heat through, then transfer to a serving dish.

Crumble the remaining bacon over the top, and serve warm.

@Rockhead,
I do have to show my id. For the good stuff. The stuff that doesn't work is readily available. I had some moonshine the other day. My tummy burned for an hour afterwards. ouchy.

Rockhead asked me to let people know that he lost his Internet. If all goes well, he'll be back tomorrow (Friday).

Happy Thanksgiving, you guys.

@ehBeth,
if they are gluten free...

the problem with oats here in the states is that they travel with, and cohabitate with wheat.

not good for me...

certfied GF oats are out there, but kinda pricey.

I saved christmas tonight...

I got there early (the call was moved back, but they forgot to call me) and stayed to watch the movie. it was a church sponsored santa movie...

anyways, just as the two elves were starting their lines, and Santa was making his way to the stage, Lucky realized that the mike was not working.

he gave me a flashlight and directions to getting backstage, and told me to go trace the mike cord and find the problem.

it's a very cool old building. and simply wired.

took me longer to find my way behind the curtain than to fix the audio.

but I have to be up in a few hours to go work all day at the arena.

this ones gonna hurt later...

sheeeeeeittt.

I left my meds at home.

and when I got to John Mayer, I was made a rigger. I'm not the only one been sick around town.

so I got out early (riggers always exit the in early) and headed over to help Lucky at the Orpheum.

moscow ballet put on the nutcracker to a full house.

awesome performance...

I set up the warm-up bars backstage, and waited to take them back down.

WOW.

incredibly flexible itty bitty young ladies speaking rapid fire russian.

very sexy.

I had to go wait elsewhere for my own good...

after we got them shipped out, I went over and worked the out on the concert.

whoa nelly am I bushed.

and gram has a morning doctor appointment in town.

no rest for the wicked...

home.

and I lost yesterday.

just gone...

I called gram a cab at 8, and went down for 3 hours until chuck called wanting to come over and do some laundry.

I started cooking up bacon and eggs with hashbrowns, and that did it. I was able to serve him and get him gone before it really took me out...

slept through until 9 this morning when my phone went off.

lucky needed me at the orpheum for a 7 hour gig.

(best thing about the orph is that they pay weakly but weekly)

I won't see my Mayer money for a full 30 days...

thawing some cutlets.

I needa eat verra badly...

@Rockhead,
saw the coolest pic today - a bar built into a bike

in real life - saw a gorgeous shiny maroon electric trike with matching wagon - wished I'd had my camera with me
