@mismi,
I worked on the fly floor, about thirty feet above the stage, and off to the right...

(from wiki)
A fly system, flying system or theatrical rigging system, is a system of lines (e.g. ropes), blocks (pulleys), counterweights and related devices within a theater that enables a stage crew to quickly, quietly and safely fly (hoist) components such as curtains, lights, scenery, stage effects and, sometimes, people (e.g. in Peter Pan). Systems are typically designed to fly components between clear view of the audience and out of view, into the large opening, fly loft, above the stage.

Fly systems are often used in conjunction with other theatre systems, such as scenery wagons, stage lifts and stage turntables, to physically manipulate the mise en scène.[1]

Theatrical rigging is most prevalent in proscenium theatres with stage houses designed specifically to handle the significant dead and live loads associated with fly systems. Building, occupational safety, and fire codes limit the types and quantity of rigging permitted in a theatre based on stage configuration. Theatrical rigging standards are developed and maintained by organizations such as USITT and ESTA (now PLASA).

@Rockhead,
Thank you for the lesson. Smile I think that sounds like lots of fun. I have always loved being behind the scenes.

I have been tired. Work is hard this week. Was last week too. My babies (One 6 '2" boy that is like 5 year old) are getting those goofy fall sinus issues and they don't do well with sinus issues. Bless them. I wish I had a picture of one of them today. He had his arms around my neck from behind and his chin resting on my head. He sneezed. In my hair.

I have one that totally cracks me up. He is such a potty mouth. I LOVE it. But he ate the dressing today (I was not the one that took him through the cafeteria line) and he has celiacs. He made himself throw up - IN THE HALL. Yay. When he was done he smiled at me. Seriously funny. I wasn't the one that had to clean it up though. I did have to clean him up. What shall I do with these boys? Wink

Anyway - somedays it's all I can do to peek in here. Because if I sit down - I don't want to get up again. And I can't sit down until I have everybody where they are supposed to be and everything done that needs to be done. But today - well...we might do take out.

mighty chatty ain't I?
hugs

Love the cars. Very cool. And your radio is awesome....does it work?

@mismi,
radio is non functional but complete.

Ima have my radio guy look at it...

this was a shitty day.

and I still hafta go in and load trucks in the freezing rain at 10...

I started out to go do the heater core in the ford.

nope. whole dash has to come out. not today...

so I switched to changing the spark plugs to get rid of the miss.

nope.

the one that needs changing the worst won't budge.

when I get it to go, it is gonna take the threads in the head with it.

new motor time...

but not today.

I ran outta windshield spray just over the county line.

had to drive the last 3 miles with my door open so I could see the road.

damned freezing rain.

tonight is a bonneville kinda night.

and tomorrow I prolly opt out of towing that car.

until it is warmer and drier...

@ehBeth,
my boss likes me.

and I'm good on a ladder with tools...

I spent most of my time on stage dismantling stuff.

until the end, when I had to scramble up a truss and reload some riders whilst on the ramp half into the truck.

lotsa yelling. a little cursing, but I got it to shift enough to get it in.

the kids in Cheyenne will probably say a few words in my honor when they take it off...

I left the heat up, so it's toasty warm.

as soon as stinky finishes his late (dirty looks) dinner, he will come warm my lap.

a little wine to sleep by, and a yucky tomorrow.

Lisa can't go get that car, so I will hafta call in a favor.

my rigger buddy Shane is gonna pull my dolly and split the meager take...

we will make it fun.

I got nothing else to do tomorrow...

but I recruited assistance.

shane is gonna come up and pick me and the dolly up. in his truck.

mine hurt me yesterday, and will be a fair weather truck until I decide how best to proceed.

it's gonna need a motor most likely...

I could smell roast pork as I walked home from the bus stop tonight. Wondered if it was Kansas pork.

Hope it was a good relaxing lump day.
