shmeared the back side of my pinhole rust repair on the hood.

(late tonight I will shmear the front side with plastic)

and sprayed rust killer in a lot of spots that will be future trouble not covered under this job...

getting a set of wheels cleaned and ready for paint.

if I had room down to Josh's the car itself is ready to move.

he should be ready for me by the weekend...

Casey is gonna stop by as he goes home again and help me off the garage doors from my truck into my yard.

gotta load the welder up and take it over to the vw shop.

they accepted my bid to fix the trike...

and I think the rest of my equipment will follow.

@ehBeth,
winter is coming.

(Saturday to be exact)

got my welder set up over to the vw shop. I am really hoping that that turns out as good as it is looking to. mr vw is getting older and slower, but he is verra particular and set in his ways. for him to allow me to set up shop in his storage shop is monumental.

but it seems to be going smoothly so far. we had a fish dinner together tonight after I got moved in. (there is much more equipment coming soon)

tomorrow I fix a trike that was in for a tack weld. I said I wouldn't tack it, but for a bit more money I would take it apart and do it right. they agreed...

gonna go out and gather all the clamps and other assorted tools tonight so I can go as soon as I am good tomorrow.

also gotta e-mail the granddaughter and start the clock on my eviction.

she called twice today, but I didn't feel talkative...

I'm over to the vw shop.

been working on the trike, and cleaning out a workspace...

I think I gotta go get something to make some gussets out of. I may have got in over my head here. (again)

this is a home built job, and I know why they had trouble with their welds now, beyond not being very good welders. their material doesn't work well together...

I won't turn it loose until it's safe, but gussets will take at least another fiddy.

I'll see what mr vw says when he wakes up from his chairnap. I didn't have the heart to wake him...

@ehBeth,
got the trike all done and delivered.

I wound up going over to see ol' bob and raided his metal scrap pile at the garage mahal. (his home shop)

got a chunk of meaty square tubing and fashioned a collar from it that would weld to the hard ass bike frame. (this was last night) then my welder ran outta wire.

so today I did all the heavy welding, grinding, painting, and then redid the clutch pedal for mr vw. (if it ain't stock, he gets lost quickly)

the customer was very pleased. it is his dad's, and he is on his last moments. one of his 3 dying wishes was to ride it once more before he goes.

but it is not an old man's trike.

mr vw and the guy's son both opted to make me drive it up onto the trailer. itsa handful...

once I got used to the short as hell clutch throw, it was a piece of noisy cake...

to celebrate I took mr vw to doc's steak house for dinner. (friday for him is normally a mexican joint I cannot eat at)

I can still taste the garlic slaw...

I forgot how much I liked having my laundry all folded nicely for me.

$15. for 27 pounds of dirty laundry. 3 hours. and a smiling chinese guy who is very appreciative...

and I didn't have to do it between shifts.

priceless...

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

one of my stewards approached me tonight with a possible place to rent.

in a little itty bitty town I've barely heard of and never been to. about as far out as I am now.

I took the goggle virtual tour, and it is firkin perfect.

we'll see if he can convince his wife. (her family furniture is stored on the second story). a very vintage old farmhouse.

with a detached 2+ car garage.

and a working 40's roper gas range...

cheap.

@Rockhead,
Well, it sounds just great. Let's hope his powers of persuasion are good enough to persuade his wife to let you rent it. Good if you had a decent base for winter - give you time to work out what you'll do for a more permanent home next year, perhaps. Good luck.
