@Ticomaya,
Haven't gotten a thing yet except high wind. They're posting dust storm warnings for all of NM until Thursday.

@Rockhead,
I've never quite understood folks who seem to wanna shovel just for the sake of shoveling. You don't see animals trying to clear big wide paths.

@JTT,
Animals don't drive pickup trucks. Or any other vehicles, for that matter.

@Lustig Andrei,
If I don't put stinky in a carrier when we travel, he wants to drive.

it gets to be a real problem.

when I won't let him drive, he tries to lay up in the windshield in front of me...

got the updated forecast as the snow slows down a little bit.

had a half inch since I shoveled out my path to the shop and the piddle spot.

"Overcast with a chance of snow in the evening, then partly cloudy. Fog overnight. Low of 10F with a windchill as low as -4F. Winds from the NNW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 30% with accumulations up to 2 in. possible..."

brrrrrr.

@Rockhead,
I found a nursery that has pawpaws for sale. Im gonna get me three. It seems that the pawpaw, while having a delicious fruit, has a flower and leaf whose odors are termed "fetid".
SO, Im gonna plant em waaay out in a far field so that Ill have to drive to em.

@Rockhead,
Let us know when you've thawed out and are able to bend your typing fingers.

Might be a good time to spend some nights over at Mr. VW's if you can get through all the snow.

@farmerman,
Your neighbors are gonna hate you when the breeze carries that aroma over to them. Wink

@Butrflynet,
we really dont have neighbors that are close nough to get downwinded. Even if I plant em in the farthest field, there are severall other fields of my one neighbor that are easily /12 mile to his nearest barn.
Being in the country does have its lonely moments but at thats one of the reasons Im so mellow most of the time.

@Butrflynet,
my little corner of the world is cozy and warm.

and my animals would not like being left to fend for themselves.

I chose a country life.

being snowed in for a few days is better than listening to my neighbors fight and cry through the walls...

@Rockhead,
and listening to days of snow blowers all over the place.

We hop on the loader , drive onto the rear PTO snowblade and have fun pushing and pulling the snow while listening to the radio . All around is a muffled quiet from all the snow pack.

Unfortunately, this year we havent had much snow, just a bunch of little 2 to 3" fizle snows. Id be laughed at if anybodyy drove by to see me saddle up on the loader to push that around.
I broomed it off the porches and paths to the barn. Mpst of em were melted within 2 day anyway

@Rockhead,
Yeah, but then comes Monday and Tuesday. Fortunately, that brown circle of 18-20" is east of you. Unfortunately, you appear to be in for 10-14" more snow early next week.

http://wxcaster4.com/gfs/CONUS2_GFS0P5_SFC_ACCUM-SNOW_120HR.gif

edit: that's not all new snow. It's a combination of new snow and snow depth. Maybe your 12" on the ground is part of that projected total...

Forecast for Monday:

Monday

Overcast with snow in the morning, then mostly cloudy with snow. Fog early. High of 34F with a windchill as low as 16F. Windy. Winds from the North at 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Chance of snow 100% with accumulations up to 5 in. possible.
Monday Night

Overcast with a chance of snow. Fog overnight. Low of 23F with a windchill as low as 9F. Breezy. Winds from the NNW at 20 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 20% with accumulations up to 1 in. possible.

@JPB,
still having the occasional skunk problem. even with the snow. and the warnings given...

but you know how skunks are.

they think they are welcome anywhere they wish to be.

if I find out where they live, I will quickly exterminate them...

@Rockhead,
Just don't get to know them. They're most marvellously cat-like little animals.

@Rockhead,
nahhhh

I've had the opportunity to get to know a couple of skunks that had their scent glands removed. They're smart, lovely little critters - but I still wouldn't want them around the hen house or the people house.

Yeah, odd that, eh, Rocky? They want to live and raise their young.

@ehBeth,
do you think someone might remove jtt's scent glands?

not that he would be welcome any more than he already isn't...
